I love Sammy more then anybody on this forum but there are reasons Sammy wont make the kings royal

unless they give him a past winners provisional. He is not fast at Eldora anymore and it sucks watchimg him run on the inside wall like he does cause he dont want to go fast, and dont tell me the highline is not fast cause i have seen it fast and he is on the inside wall like a chicken dick pussy and its painfull to watch, another reason is Kevins car does not have the motor to win at Eldora and thats a fact not made up. And lastly its Kevins car and the last time Sammy was in at at Eldora he drove conservative as hell worried he was going to hurt his sons car so he was slow as hell but he made the show but he could have done bettter cause on that night sammy was just slow. Anyway I love Sammy but wished he would quit doing the Waltrip Steve Kinser thing and hanging around like they did letting every broke dick in the business make them look pathetic and weak but its his life and if he likes looking like a worse version of Booby allen at eldora and that was slow and scared around the bottom then more power to him but at some point have some dignity Sammy and stop diminishing your incredibly bad ass career at being bad fast all the time. Or stay running 360 cab engines that are not fast cause you dont look as bad in them yet but this year your starting too

Run on sentence....

So does this mean Bell and Sammy are teammates? Or is Bell out?

Bell is only running the car when he is available. If I remember correctly he tweeted out earlier this year the King's Royal is one of his favorite events but he wouldn't be able to make it this year. I'm pretty sure the Xfinity race starts at like 4PM Saturday which is why he wouldn't be able to. I could be wrong but I think Sammy is just for this weekend.

I said on a previous thread it all comes down to money, having him in the car this particular week makes sense money wise! Same for the several other high paying races over the next month. I look forward to seeing the 39 on the track with Sammy in the cockpit!

I think I read that Bell is running The Doty and then Sammy will finish out the week.  I won't be shocked to see the old man in it for the Nationals as well.

Sammy has won a couple of Allstar 410 races in the last couple of years, as well as some 360 events

Is he an oddsmakers favorite? of course not...

But I'd love to see him win it!

I never could stand the guy but he's still capable of pulling one off on occasion. The 39 is a fast car.

Christ, the guy just won the 360 nationals 3 years ago. Why doesnt all other competitors that haven't won the nationals give it up instead?

This right here.^^^^^^^^

Not to mention two years ago he jumped in Mark Coldren's 07 at Williams Grove and finished, I believe, 2nd possibly 3rd.  Strange car, new team and no problem.  Was fast in it at Port too till he and Reutzel came together.  He can get it done, just needs a good car.  The #3 with a 410 in it is not good but with a 360, they kick ass.  He can still run a 410 too.  I was at Mansfield for the Sprint Car World Championship and he was pretty fast in the Thone car till he blew a tire.  Love him or hate him, the old guy can still get it done.  Not many others at his age can say the same.

to piss haters off like you..and apparently its working

Hater?  To the contrary, I'm a lover.  I am only a couple years older than Sammy and am loving retirement and want Sammy to not "f" himself up in a Sprint Car so he can enjoy his golden years as well.

Let's consider some dates to put it in perspective.  The first time I heard of Sammy was in the late 70s, approximately 40 years ago.  I bought my oldest daughter a Sammy shirt when she was around eight or ten and she still has that Nance shirt and she's not a racing fan so I guess that time her cheap old man bought her a shirt was a big deal.  But joking aside she is 44 years old and watched Sammy when she was a kid.

Young people entertain fantasies of their sports heroes having some sort of immortality, older.folks know there isn't such a thing.  Like I said, I have been a fan for many years so I hope that his flipping the bird at old age ends well for him.  I hurt like hell just getting out of bed due to past injuries, the foremost being metal plate and screws in my neck from a car accident.  I can't even imagine the recovery time after crashing in one of these things in ones sixties.  If that makes me a hater in anyone's eyes so be it, their opinions of me will not reverse the effects of aging.

After I made this last post I got to thinking about the irony of the last two controversial racing threads I have participated in.  One was about 11 and 12 year olds driving Late Models and the other was about senior citizens driving Sprint Cars.  This whole age thing with racing is making my head hurt.

Now please excuse me while I go listen to some Rolling Stones (pun intended).  I had a 60s garage band while I was in high school and we covered a ton of Stones songs and named  the band Aftermath which was the name of one of their albums.  Since we're discussing the longevity of race car drivers I should mention it has been 52 years since I played in that band. Fast forward to 2019 and the Stones are still touring, Keith Richards is still alive, Im no better on guitar, and 11 year olds and social security recipients are driving race cars.

I hope Sammy stays safe and has a good showing at Eldora.  If you're going to defy the aging process then do it with gusto and win the thing.

The danger is always there and the longer you do it your chances of a bad accident increase, just be as safe as you can on the track, cuz really could you ever get tired of driving a 900+ HP car that weighs less than 1400 pounds. I doubt it.  I've ridden often in a friend's 670 HP ZO6 that weighs 3200 pounds and its a thrill every time (he had a $7600 HP increase in at a shop in Minneapolis).   Sammy may not win races, at least not very often for sure at his age, but he loves doing it and more power to him.  Who is he hurting?  No one.  We need as many cars out there as possible.  Its his and his sponsor's money and they ain't unhappy apparently.

Agreed. I don't care for either one of them but Kevin would gain a notch or two from me if he ended up firing his grumpy old man....

1. No one has any business worrying about whether sammy needs to be racing because there's a chance he might get hurt other than sammy and his wife. 2. His age doesnt really mean hes in anymore danger than anyone else. 3. Other than a crown jewel race or a woo race he actually has a decent chance of winning he can still be fast. 4. Why not just enjoy him racing it's another car on the track and I promise he wont be this slowest one. 5. He still adds excitement to the racing world even when hes acting like baby. People.......just enjoy it and quit whining about him you might actually regret it when he truly does quit.

There is a hell of a lot of drivers I would rule out before I would rule Sammy Swindell out. Even in a Crown Jewel Race.

Amen.  If Sammy isn't a threat to the safety of the other racers, then he ought to do it as long as he can.  So what if he doesn't win as often, being out there still beats sitting in the stands.  And he can sell a lot more shirts if he is behind the wheel.

I am a Kinser fan and the last few years were tough watching him slow down.  I still went to races, hoping he might catch lightning in a bottle one more time so I could see him take the checkers for the win.  Didn't happen, but I still enjoyed watching him run.  I'm glad he got out when he did - a few of those wrecks in the last year or 2 of racing had to be pretty hard on him.
