Well I don't know but the 69k team tweeted out their upcoming schedule today and Eldora is not on it. Has WG on the 19th then nothing the rest of that week/weekend. Just saying......

Oh by the way. My pick . The steel city bandit. Tim Schaffer. A dark horse but can get it done.
|
You never know whats gonna happen... who would have expected Tim to win Knoxville in 2010?
Likewise, Freddy Jr. or any number of guys could pull it off

I saw that already, I was more so commenting on the fact that he was saying Lance would barely have a chance. With how Eldora has been the past few years I would give the 69k a better chance than ever of winning there, there are not many WoO races outside of PA that I think would be more suited to the 69k to be honest.

Dewease, Dietrich, Wolfe, Smith, Rahmer, Montieth... I'd hope at least 4 or 5 of those guys would come. As an Ohio fan I usually only get to see DD. Any of these guys run port or lincoln for points?

I can think of six Pa. cars that will likely be there and none are on that list.

And?
The 69k is more competitive (outright dominant in PA) now than it was then, I'm just saying a team from PA can win that race, it has happened before.. with the same car. I don't think it's likely because the Outlaws are the best in the world and taking money out of their pockets on the road is the most difficult thing to do in Sprint Car racing. But you have to be a real Pa/Posse hater to act like some of these guys don't have a chance to win, especially Lance.

Which would you go with?
Stay home with a pretty good chance of bringing in some money
or
Tow about a 1000 miles round trip with a pretty good chance of losing money
I won't think any less of them if they all stay home. And I'm also OK if any of them win in two weeks and never cross a state line again. I like hanging out on my porch too.

Until people consistently beat Donny in big money races he is still guy to beat in my mind. It feels a little like he and that team are maybe comfortable winning points championships (which he prob wont this year) and the challege, or what they really get up for is scooping these big pay days.
In gambling you sometimes have the dominant guy v the field when picking. (Think back in Tiger glory days of golf). Well...Donny v the Field at Kings Royal and Knoxville Nationals would be a much more close to even money bet, you would be hard pressed to bet substansial money against #15

What's a local PA show gonna pay? 4,000? The Kings Royal is $3,000 to start. With Saturday's format a sub-par qualifying effort could land you on the front row of your heat. Fromt there... 10 laps and you're guaranteed to take home $3,000. Not to mention if this teams as high caliber as you read about on this forum... they are fools for not running for $175k.

I think Sweet would be the betting favorite. Might've beat Donny at the Royal last year if not getting held up by his teammate, beat Donny at the Nationals, chipped away at his point lead the 2nd half of the season, now clearly has been the most dominant in 2019. Won a big money race a few weeks ago at Jackson. My moneys on the 49.

I guess that means there are a whole lot of fools all over the country then, probably a few right there in OH. Maybe every track should shut down for the Kings Royal. There will be plenty of PA cars and drivers at the event, albeit they will be considered "outlaws" or "all-stars".

The Allen team will have two posse drivers there.
Does anyone remember the Apple 12 with Greg Hodnett (RIP) at the wheel pounding the Outlaws silly for the Friday Show and getting SCREWED ROYAL the next night after earning a pole start fhis heat his...they put him to the rear after a feeble bullshit start jump call?
I upgraded to pit pass to go in and thank the team for attending inspit of the jackass call that essential fucked them out of an opportunity to compete.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH

Schatz has been giving up positions pretty regular these last few months. Starts well most nights and sometime on the pole. I'd like to see a plus and minus comparison on Scahtz and Sweet for the last 20 races. I'd bet Sweet has moved forward on average and Schatz has moved backward even if you throw out the mechanical failure of both.
Schatz is far from washed up I just think other drivers have improved and I like that since there is now at least a discussion as to who could win where as last season the discussion was about who got 2nd place.
|
I was curious here and found that Schatz has passed 28 total cars to 23 for Sweet in the last 20 races, however, it's definitely a misleading number because of starting position. Sweet has started further up more often and has only fallen back in two races that weren't mechanical issues, while Schatz has 7 instances of losing spots.
The more interesting thing I noticed was win totals by this time of year. Schatz only has 3 wins as of July 11 - his lowest total at this time of year since 2012.
Schatz wins as of July 11 year by year
2018 - 13
2017 - 13
2016 - 13
2015 - 20(!)
2014 - 8
2013 - 9
2012 - 3

I'll trust you since it seems like you did the research and thanks for sharing those numbers.
Other than THE RACE, the race of the year is coming up at Eldora. I am wondering how this 5 nights of solid back to back racing culminating with one of the biggest WoO purses in History is going to affect the teams equipment.
Will they have time to and the resources to stay on top of maintenance during this schedule with zero nights off? Will top teams keep a car set aside for the KR or just give the same car they use in Attica a quick going over and hope for the best?
Can a team show up for the KR without taking part in the previous nights, or are the lead in events qualifiers?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

The Allen team is to the Posse what Kevin Durant is to the Oklahoma City Thunder. / 1999, is that the year you decided to wheel the track with a measuring device instead of trying to engage members of the opposite sex in relations out in the campground?

This year sets up perfectly fot the 69K team. Night 4 of that track in the heat of the summer would be perfect for that team to dominate if they could just hold off Greg Wilson. It could be 1986 all over again, Davey Brown meticulously counting 100 dollar bills out of a twinkies box while the box truck heads east on the turnpike...
I think they are playing it coy and they show up just in time for hotlaps.
