WHY THE LOL SPRINTER44 ????

I am a fan but let‘s be realistic here. Outstanding local-semi regional talent...but in Cali and Pennslyvania however...there are much much better. I know people will point to a good Charlotte run and the win at Beaver Dam, but outside that he has been lucky to make shows with the Outlaws, and is out to lunch the times he went to PA. Not a knock... but not Outlaw material.

i guess running 5th in a car he never saw until that day means nothing at Stockton Balog is the crew chief on his car and has to conserve equipment he definitely can compete being realistic and since most of the California tracks are small that fits him more the only really tough track in pa and even outlaw cars struggle at is Williams grove and that’s being realistic lol

Sunshine Tyler Courtney was my first guess...only because of his connection to the ownership and Bryan Clauson. He;s got some wing experience and with Justin Grant jumpin in the TOPP ride for 2018. It would make him a candidate I would guess? I know when I talked to him last year at Williams Grove and asked him why the TOP guys wouldn;t let him haul a car at for the National Open he said "It;s tough getting them to race the shows they committed to, let alone extra ones. But he mentioned he'd loved to do more winged stuff

I am not saying he cannot compete. Under the correct circumatnces, on the right night, he can. I am saying there are much better talents available to fill a seat of that caliber, and compete with the Outlwas for wins, every night out of the box. Balog would realistically be 70/30 in terms of making Outlwas mains imo.

I like Balog, so don't get me wrong on this. But running well one night in CA and a weekend in NC doesn't necessarily constitute Outlaw material. Im sure he will get there at some point though, he just needs the right people and the right car. But as of right now I do not forsee a team picking him up for the full outlaw deal until he has done more. Like I said, he will get there, He just needs to get out more. Sure he has a lenghtly IRA resume, but if you look in detail at who the IRA consists of anymore, thats not a hard task for someone like Balog. IRA definitely isn't what it used to be for sure, hopefully that turns around as well!

I personally believe balog can compete with the outlaws if he has Time to focus more on driving not conserving equipment or setting the car up completely. There’s only one way to get better and that’s by racing with the Best I personally hope he just doesnt run the full ira schedule and starts running out of his comfort zone so he can get better

Where does the list of drivers capable of running with the WoO start and end? The list of owners/sponsors/crew chiefs is a hell of a lot shorter! I'm quite sure that there are several drivers capable of doing well on the tour given the right equipment to do so. It's a money sport today more so than a driver's sport. I'm not saying the driver isn't important, but the emphasis has to be on the car. Because of that, I think the smarter driver/crew wins the majority of the races rather than the skilled seat of the pants and raw speed driver. And having full availability of the proper equipment goes a long way in making a crew and driver smarter than the rest.

I disagree to an extent. Put Larson or Bell in any decently maintained car and they are likely to win. Look at what Bell did in the 11n. That is a solid local car that he made bad fast every time he was in it.

Larson has been in a hell of a lot more than a decently maintained car for cripes sake! Bell's accomplishment, although fantastic, was kind of like the blind squirrel......Not that Bell doesn't have talent beacause he does. But that car isn't going to be competitive on tour at all.

He wouldn't be my pick but what about Dollansky? I would like to see Logan S get it so we can finally see what Jacob Allen can do. Right now he is worried about not tearing stuff up. Would love to see him have all the resources of Shark racing at his disposal so he can get up on the wheel.
Tim Kaeding. Remember him. He has wheeled some mediocre equipemtn and won.
McFadden. I can't believe he hasn't had shot at a title over here yet. Imagine the headache he would be for Kemenah in the right Ohio car.

There's lots of WOO drivers who have had less of a resume than Balog. As far as being competetive in PA, you could have said the same thing about Starks....until this past season.

Exactly, including Schuchart, who's starting to get some WoO wins

Gonna be toughest competition in the last 7 years....Lots of new drivers..tough field
|
I don't know why everyone says this will be the toughest year for competition. The last few years have always been tough. Schatz and Gravel just have things rolling. The only new teams are Madsen and Lorenc.

I agree with louy57 I think the competition is going to be tougher this year. Sounds like everybody is coming back next year, K Madsen and Saldana will be running alot of woo dates and I think I Madsen will be a Win contending car not a back of the pack car.

Okay Sheldon even said that financially it’s not as bad as you think. Also, chemistry is important and bonzai drew and Zach all have that together plus sheldon proved that his car has more speed and potential
