That's pretty much my though, too.

I  think Tmac hit the wall hard in 3, slowed and was expected to  stop.... but didnt..    Not sure if the banner played into it or not.

I seen Doug throw a red flag at Husets for Q102 car when he flipped end over end..  Red flag flew and Tweeter landed on all 4s and continued on.   Doug changed his red to an Inadvertant because Tweeter was still rolling.  Doug did explain to Tweeter the next time it was his red. Smile

Doug's flag for McCarl was not inadvertant.  He threw it because McCarl was out of the groove and (almost) stopped in turn 4.  I did not even consider for 1 second that there should be no yellow thrown.  He wasn't going to get back to the infield and it would have been dangerous to stay green.  Had he hit the wall and got back up to speed and the yellow flew, I think there would be a case and he would have a good argument.

Much like Lasoski many years back after the tangle with Brown in the B main.  He made contact with Brian, did a complete 360, lost only one spot and continued on at full speed.  The yellow came out and it was (correctly) ruled an inadvertant yellow as he did not miss a beat.  Not even the same conversation here.

(to be clear, I have nothing against McCarl either)

Orrrrrr....and I'm speculating here.  Did terry hit the wall....doug threw yellow fairly quick thinking he would stop (he didn't)....terry hears yellow on raceceiver, continues to go slow thinking the yellow is for something completely different....and proceeds to grab his spot back?    Again speculating.  All I know is tony bockhoven said out loud the yellow is for the banner and terry gets his spot back.  And then a parade lap later, Johnny said the caution was for McCarl and he'd go to the tail?     Also on this same note, I saw someone on twitter say that "spotters said terry hit the wall on purpose in order to bring out the mandatory tire change yellow a lap early."   This has to be the dumbest damndest thing I've ever heard.
