As much as I like Larson and respect his capabilities, I'm tired of seeing stuff like this play out.

Either commit to the whole weekend or don't race at all

If it plays out like it did with Rico a few years ago, and you're sitting in your hauler watching someone else make a lap in the car, in my opinion you'd have every right to be upset

Then pass him...then set yourself up to be in the A Main.  Then drive faster...etc. etc.

I honestly get your setiments and anyone else that shares this same thought, but winning the A on a Prelim Night at the Nats is still a big deal and is worht $12k.  That alone is a big race.  You also forget what it means to a crew and chief to work their tails off, have a great prelim night and make the Knoxville A Main.  They'd ALL (the entire team) much rather race Saturday's A and see how it plays out but knowing your hard work paid off to even qualify for the A is a nice reward for the entire crew, including Paul Silva.

If anyone is upset that this team EARNED their way into Saturday's A and your team didn't then look in the mirror.  This isn't a situation where they "gave" someone a starting spot instead of your team.  They didn't just hand it to this (or any) team.  They earned it.  You did not.  Sucks if they start and park, but they earned it.

The Chip Ganassi Racing twitter account put up a poll this morning asking if Kyle should race Saturday.  I'm thinking it is gonna happen.  Would be dumb to build the buzz & then have a let down.  Either that or Kyle knows the password to the CGR twitter account!

Came here to post this exactly. I can't believe they'd reference it if they weren't going to let him do it, that's be an absolutely dumb move on their part.

Saw that as well, but it might be the social media team drumming up buzz.  Chip himself might literally have 0 idea they did that...or he may know and is contemplating it.  We will see, but it was most likely someone on their social media/marketing team creating some social media engagment and may not necessarily be an indication of Chip's consideration to allow him to race (he may very well be considering it, but my point is the tweet shouldn't lead us to believe one thing or another. If Chip HIMSELF tweeted it from his own Twitter, that'd be a different story).

A media staffer should not go this far without an end goal other then getting fired. If Chip doesnt know about this the stuffs gonna hit the fan from the fans and from the team executives.

Surprised no one has said the obvious.

Get out and vote! Or is it stay in and vote this time?

I guess I could sum up my issue is that even with the work the team put in, Larson still had to execute and make it happen.

Losing to him is one thing, but my view is that this is still individual based, not team.  As great as the crew chief may be, it's still up to the driver to get the car in.  I just don't like not seeing the whole event through with one driver.  Larson has the resources to do something like this but other teams/drivers out there I'm sure look to this as their chance to put a lot of extra money in their teams pocket

As a crew chief though, I'd be upset that all the hard work I put in will be pulled off the track and not driven to its fullest to gauge my talents against the field, especially if I'm getting a cut of the prize money.

It's sprint car racing, not nascar. The DRIVER is qualified, not the car. We don't do sub-drivers or start and parks in sprint car racing. It's great that Kyle was able to compete and win Wednesday night but if he can't make it Saturday, that A-main spot should go to the next man up (5th in the B), not a substitute driver that DIDN'T qualify for the event. That's BS IMO. I'm sure every team out there works their tails off(all 4 nights).

If they don't race Wednesday....the team gets a cut of $0. Larson winning Wednesday was actually like a $22,000 win as it locked car into $10,000 to start A-Main Saturday and $12,000 for winning Wednesday. I would like a cut of that! Winning Wednesday is a huge payday, and only a few races a year pay more than $22,000! Hopefully he is allowed to run and can increase that $10,000 to start by $140,000 by winning the $150,000 to win A-Main!

The last 2 posts are totally contradicting each other.... does car qualify or driver?

Either way, somebody else gets a chance. I like letting in another car from B, or giving another good driver a shot in the 57

But if Ganassi DOES THE RIGHT THING, we get to see Kyle compete!!!

Since this has happened potentially twice in a short period of time I wouldn't be surprised to see a change to the rules where it's the driver that qualifies. Knoxville has been quick to kill shit like this like when some drivers started running micro midget tanks in qualifying. They made it a rule that you must run the same sized tank you qualify with the entire night and that ended that bullshit!

WoO needs to get a TV deal. Isn't that what made Nascar take the huge leap? People see Nascar on TV and think it is the top of the sports but WoO needs to SELL the idea to some network. If Sprint Cars were a regular TV event people would start to know who the drivers are and recognize it for more than a grass root sport. Or they could sell the grass root sport idea and get more of a following.

IMO the WoO series has more to offer for entertainment if they can some how make more passing.

Problem is the delays between races. I suggest they start 1 hr late, tighten up the TV schedule so there are less breaks and that gives the TV crews time to edit and follow the races within the race.

Just ideas but WoO and sprints in general are too much of a good secret.

Kasey Kahne was on the Winged Nation Podcast recently and said that him, Stenhouse, Ryan Blaney and Larson were taking a private jet from the NASCAR event in Michigan to Iowa on Saturday. I take that as Larson will be on the Knoxville grounds regardless. Him not racing would be a travesty.
