This Friday and Saturday nights May 21-22nd the BOOTHILL CASINO presents two complete nights of USAC MIDGETS, with the SMRS twist (no motor rule- no tire rule- no weight rule) which on this high banked 3/8 mile clay track is gonna be wilder than punk rocker at a country bar.
The Dodge City Raceway Park race track is unique to say the least. Built in 2000 as an asphalt track it had all the amenities of golf course and more. Asphalt pit area, electricity and water at every pit stall, Musco lighting that will give you a suntan at midnite, and green well kept mowed grass everywhere. Top of the line does not say it all, or how about even the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars awarded Ed Beckley and DCRP with WOO TRACK OF THE YEAR and also WOO Sprint Car Promoter of the year in 2009.
Beckley has a handle on this track. In the tracks history there has been enough would be promoters and track operators that have came and went. Beckley has won awards within 2 years of his taking over this track. One of the things that makes DCRP what it is - is the clay. "It comes from an old Indian camp/burial grounds south of town here about 6 miles. Some think the black gumbo clay which is not found anywhere else in Ford County must be put there by the race track gods," said Beckley He might be right as it has plenty of traction, is not hard on tires, and makes no dust. Maybe Beckley's track preperation has something to do with it or maybe not but one thing for sure, it is nothing for cars to run 3 and 4 wide side by side here.
USAC/ SMRS official John Stewart is on site and is getting ready for the two big days and the weather is going to be picture perfect. Stewart is elated at the car count numbers and drivers are calling the office from all over the U.S. Dirt Track USAC racing on the high banked DCRP oval made of race track gods special dirt and the big cash dollars and points are other cool reasons to come race.
While you are here in good old Dodge City please plan on attending the Boothill Casino and resort. Only months old this place is beautiful and so far every midget fan has had good luck because no rain in the forecast for Liberal and Dodge City.
John wanted everyone to know there will be tires and fuel for sale here at DCRP this weekend. Come on and get into Dodge!
