Incredibly Diverse 2010 Cowtown Speedway Season Now Set

12/16/09, DarinShort.com. Each year the volume knob keeps turning up further at Cowtown Speedway, and in 2010 it will be reach another new level; as more racing, more new racing series make their first visits to the speedway and more cash will be up for grabs to competitors.

The 2nd annual Cowtown Midget Championships presented by City Vending, National Health Care Advisors and Sunoco Race Fuels will take place on February 12-13, 2010 and will certainly provide a weekend of wild racing action once again. The full-blown USAC/SMRS sanctioned midgets will compete for $1,000 to win on Friday and $3,000 to win on Saturday. Each of their feature events will start 24 cars.

The ASCS2 Series will be on hand to kick off their 2010 season with the Winged Outlaw ‘Multi’ and Non-Winged ‘A’ classes (of what Cowtown fans know as the Winged 600’s, just without wings). With $1,500 earmarked to win for each ASCS2 division, there’s sure to be full fields of top quality cars from throughout the region, as was the case with both ASCS2 events at Cowtown in 2009.

Plus, the first ever visit of the ASCS2 Restricted 600’s will take to the brand new 1/6 mile “Action Track” at Cowtown, with the winner taking home a cool $1,000.

The always exciting Cowtown Modifieds will race their traditional Feb Fast 50 for $2,000 to win and $400 to start (24th). The race will be sanctioned by NCRA.

With a staggering $60,000 weekend purse posted, another huge field of 200+ cars is expected. Drivers are urged to pre-register for this event at the track website on or before 2/7/10 to receive pre-entry discounts. Pre-entry also allows you to receive a reserved parking space for your hauler in the pits. And it allows the track to publicize drivers that will be attending.

The 2010 points season kicks off on March 6 with the first Sprint Car race of the season, joining them will be the Winged 600’s, Modifieds and Bombers. Plus, the brand new raceTX.com Limited Modifieds will make their Series debut.

Other 2010 highlights include appearances from several top-notch sanctioning bodies:

-The SUPR Late Model series makes a first-ever visit to Cowtown Speedway on April 24, paying the feature winner a whopping $2,500.

-The ever popular ASCS Sprint Cars make four appearances during the point’s season, including dates on April 17, June 12, July 17 and August 28.

-The ASCS2 series, this year featuring all three divisions, will make two post-season return visits at the Cowtown Sprint Nationals, held on October 8-9; and the November Sprint Shootout, held on November 12-13. More information on those two events will be published in the months to come.

-The non-winged EMSA 600’s will second visit to Cowtown on June 26. The Houston based group will certainly provide a tough field of drivers to take on the strong Cowtown contingent of drivers who will take their wings off for the night.

-The Sprint Series of Texas presented by Smiley’s Racing has two 2010 dates on March 13, and on July 31. Both event dates also host the return of the Young Guns Challenge Series.

-After their inaugural visit set in February, the NCRA Modified Series makes two return visits on June 5 and August 14.

-And speaking of February, the USAC/SMRS Midgets will make their return on August 21 for the 2nd Annual Cowtown Midget Madness event.

-The popular Cowtown $1000 to win Demo Derby’s will take place on March 27, May 1, June 19, July 24 and September 4.

-The annual salute to those affected by the events of 9/11 will take place at Cowtown’s 9/11 Memorial Spectacular, held this year on 9/11. A moving memorial presentation will be held, along with a huge, professional fireworks display and a complete racing program.

-In 2009, the new Cowtown Challenge program was unveiled and was a hit with both the fans and the drivers. The program will continue with in 2010 for the raceTX.com Limited Modifieds on April 10, the Winged 600’s on June 19 and the Bombers on July 24.

-The LSDCC.com Dwarf Car Series makes several Cowtown appearances on March 13, April 17, May 1, May 15, June 5, July 3, July 17, August 7, August 14, September 4 and September 11.

-The TWMA Winged Modifieds will be on hand March 20, March 27, April 10, April 24, May 8, May 29, June 12, July 24, August 28 and September 11.

And in 2010, the big fall post-season line-up will be split in to three jumbo-sized weekends, with the 10th Annual Topless 100 taking place on September 24-25, the 3rd Annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals October 8-9 and the 4th Annual November Sprint Shootout on November 12-13.
