Word is he fractured L3 & L4 vertebra, multiples fractures at L4.  Scheduled for surgery around noon today.  Hoping for the best & a speedy recovery for him.

Thanks for the update, hoping this isn't as bad as it initially seemed. The way he landed looked too familiar.

Are you talking about Kevin Swindell's wreck? I sure hope not, I was in attendance for Kevin's wreck and it looked ugly the way it landed. Mark is a nice guy and truly talented. Hoping for the best for him.

Update on Mark Dobmeier
Mark is still in a lot of pain today. Operation went good, several plates and screws, got fitted for a brace today and sounds like he will be up and moving tomorrow. L4 was shattered and L3 was fractured. Please keep the prayers coming!

Yes, I was talking about Kevin, and I was in attendance too. And, I hope Mark fully and quickly recovers, as well!

Some might be familiar with the #14 360 car that Brooke Tatnells drives at select events throughout the season.  The car owner's son used to drive the car and one night he flipped and landed that same way right in front of me while I was down in the infield taking photos.  I litterally felt the thud of the frame rails hitting and John hurt his back but fortunately as far as I know didn't require surgery but never drove the family car again.

When I saw Dobmeier hit that same way and the way he reacted in the car I sensed right away that it was a similar kind of situation.  The fact that the updates are saying that he's being fitted for a brace and will be starting to move around was the best news we could get at this point.  All the rest, recovering and being able to run his business comes before ever thinking about seeing him in a race car again.  If he recovers sufficiently and that is his desire he's a racer so there's no stopping him.  The most important thing is that he heals up right now.

i was informed that mark was up and walking.  this is the best news that can be hoped for.  racing is done for the year, that is what it is.  his health is the most important at this pont.  he is a very active and hands on buisness man, along with all the activities he enjoys in his free time.  it will be a long and frustrating recovery, im sure; but like everything else he does, im sure he will take it head on with a great attitude, and big ole smile( when he can)

This is Mark's sister.  We have received a lot of requests from people that are wanting to help Mark and his family, and we truly appreciate all of the messages of love and support.  If you choose to make a financial donation to help them out, please do so through the Steve King Foundation (www.stevekingfoundation.org) and make sure to put Mark Dobmeier in the comment section when you submit your payment.  100% of donations tagged with his name will go to them.  There are NO authorized GoFundMe accounts or other similar platforms for the family, so please be wary if any pop up.

He is still in a lot of pain and not mobile yet.  This will be a long, slow, painful recovery, so please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you again for your kind words and support.
