Obviously KK and Brad Sweet both get Championship trophies from WoO but I suppose crew chiefs if they want that  same trophy can pay for a duplicate for their own trophy case.  Possiblly even valuable crew members might want to have that trophy.  Actually, all crew members were part of the title what with the work/hours they put in during the year.  I know Bob Trostle, when he sold a sprint car to someone (one that he no longer races),the buyer often asks for in the deal that duplicate trophies be made of that car's wins. Afterall, crew chiefs are a valuable member of the team.  And if the car is co-owned by two different people, then two extra duplicate trophies would be made, I imagine the team would be paying for the 2nd and 3rd trophies.  I remember Bob Trostle selling a car that Steve Kinser won the Knoxville Nationals with, the buyer wanted duplicates of all trophies.

I suppose crewmembers and who knows who else that might have contributed to the title/feature win and wants a copy of the trophy. When Trostle sold the car that Wolf won tbe Knoxville nationals in, the buyer wanted as part of the deal, duplicate trophies of all wins and the national's win.  Plus, Knoxville Speedway would also want championship trophies for their trophy case.  Maybe there is no end is sight as to who might be worthy of "paying" for his/her trophy.

I don't understand. Isn't there only 1 Stanley Cup? How many crowns do they pass out at the Miss America pageant for 1st place?

Yeah but in fairness there is different practices for different sports/leagues. Only 1 Stanley cup but your name is etched in it forever. Then everyone on the team takes a certain amount of time throughout the offseason with it as part of tradition. There are multiple Lombardi Trophies but only 1 given out per year that stays with the Organization but the whole team gets rings, similar to the NBA.

In racing, traditionally there has been a trophy to the driver & 1 similar for the owner for most big events & titles. I don't think this is a situation where everyone who participates in the sport gets a participation trophy as much as it is everyone who actually contributes to the team throughout the season deserves one as well. I would have no problem with any member of the championship crew getting a championship trophy since they earned it. But at the same time, I don't think they care as much about the trophy as much as they care about what they get to do for a living and being able to do it as long as they can.

Really there is no such thing as "one of a kind". It's easy to make a replica. There is even two Stanley Cups, the one that is awarded and travels with player or for special apperances, and then one that is displayed at the Hockey Hall of Fame when the "real" Cup is out. Even the "real" Cup at the top is a replica of the original that had to be retired due to brittleness. Same can be done for any event trophy.

Interesting topic. I think the organization should be flexible and offer the winning driver a trophy that says "driver" on it and owner/ owner etc. And if the owner says he wants a reasonable amount for his crew they should be honored with their own original crew trophy ,not every person who touched the car all season but the real, full time crew. Just making your own replica is wrong imo. Recently the champions of our junior hockey league had parents who got together and bought replica rings for themselves. I thought that was terrible. The team should be the only people with that ring. The manufacturer should have enough morals to say no to the order. What is stopping me from getting a replica Nationals trophy for my shelf. It just should not happen.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I have a different opinion on this.  To me I think it should be at the teams discretion how many trophys they can get.  This isn't a participation trophy, this is a national or world championship.  If the team decides that they couldn't have won the championship withouth the guy sweeping the floor at the shop everyday, great give him something for his efforts.

When Jack Nicholson wins an Oscar, how many Oscar copies do they make for all those people he thanks in his acceptance speech?
