DISCLAIMER: This post is just for fun and DOES NOT contain any gosh-darn, dang-nabit, frappin swear words....

Stopped at my first ever Casey's General Store yesterday - a new one just built here in Dayton, Ohio.  Larsonfan review: Great store, great pizza (as everybody says). Sub Sammich - pretty good. Major props to them for being a longtime supporter/sponsor of sprint car racing. Speedway stores dominate here. Yawn.

Final rankings: Sheetz is still the king IMO (a little biased as they originated in my hometown of Altoona, PA). The MTO food is great. Half the fun of coming home is hitting a Sheetz and loading up on Middleswarth and Martin chips.

Casey's GS: 4 car lengths behind. Speedway: lapped twice already.

I hear there is new competition for Sheetz back in PA. Can't remember the name of it (FIXXXER or someone else help me out here).

Again - just for fun, and with no son-of-a-biscuit curse words!

Agree on all points. The competition for Sheetz in central/south central Pa is Rutters and in eastern Pa is Wawa. Coffee at Wawa is much better but nothing as good as any of the MTO at Sheetz.  But Casey's pizza is amazing.

When in the Midwest (primarily Iowa) I support Casey’s to buy gas, snacks, drinks etc... without fail. It’s a great supporter of sprint car racing and has some good items.

That said, Sheetz is much better food, and I’d put their menu up against any fast food or gas station place anywhere.

I get the Sheetz when I eat gas station pizza, or maybe it's the 20 beers I drank when I give myself the green light on gas station pizza.

Casey's chicken bites are good though!

My guilty pleasure is about twice a month I'll go to Casey's for lunch and a grab a nice greasy slice of pizza & a 32 oz. fountain soda.

It's like visiting a prostitute, very satisfying but I feel kind of bad afterwards and just sit in my car thinking about what I just did.

Living in eastern Pa, I obviously do not have Casey's but always support them when I go to Iowa for the Nationals and I agree the pizza is solid for a convience store.... In my humble opinion, nothing beats a Wawa sub (A  hoagie for those in the east ). I have tried them all....Wawa, Sheetz, Reutters, Turkey Hill, etc. Another good one in the Maryland/Pa area is Royal Farms (Great Fried Chicken & coffee)

I really wish we had Casey's down here in Texas, but I do like the QT stores that we have.   Luckily for me my daughter now lives about two minutes away from a Casey's near Broken Arrow, OK.    We'll be paying that one a visit every time we're there.

I don't know if this Sheetz place has breakfast pizza,  but I don't see how it could get any better than Casey's breakfast pizza unless they sprinkled it with crack.

Sheetz easily better as a store, but they don't sponsor sprint cars. First place I ever saw digital sandwich ordering. Reuters is good too. Since we're on the topic, Wegman's is the best supermarket chain I've ever seen anywhere, ever....

" Casey's pizza is amazing. "????

Obviously you're not from Noo Yawk

I'm surprised to hear it from a Pittsburgh area guy too....

Having lived on both the east and west side of Pennsylvania, Sheetz is KING.   Wawa has better sandwiches but Sheetz is better overall.   Rutters, meh.   Turkey Hill, meh.

The Get Go stores in Western PA have better food than Sheetz, much more on the menu with more toppings/sauces/options to choose from.     Sheetz still wins for being the innovator though.

Casey's is one step above 7-11, but since they sponsor sprint cars, I always stop there when I'm in the area. Good gas prices, too

Sprint car sponsorship works... I never hoid of Ollie's until I saw their name on a sprint car. Then I started going... cool stores! Smile

So when you go to a prostitute, you just "visit"?

I wouldn't recommend "eating" there. either.... wink

I think he was just talking about convenience store food.

Great replies guys - they've made me laugh. We need some levity on here sometimes!

Forgot about Ritters in PA. Heck (following my earlier Disclaimer), at the Carlisle exit off the PA Turnpike, the first one you hit going south is Ritters. Having never even heard of it before and not paying any attention, it wasn't until I walked inside and realized it wasn't a Sheetz. The funny thing is that you could probabaly throw a baseball southward and hit the Sheetz just down the street!

One thing we all seem to have in common is loyalty to sprint car sponsors/supporters. Glad to see that. They deserve it. I've hit the Red Robin here in Beavercreek, Ohio several times becasue they sponsor Ryan Smith and AJ Flick back in PA.

Our city has, I think, 8 Casey's General Stores. An article in the paper last week (yes- we still get the paper) said 2 more will be built soon. The blah, blah, blah article ended with this jewel: "Casey's, a franchise pizza restaurant with 2400 locations that also sells gasoline".

Rutter's is who you're thinking of. Allegedly they had a gentleman's agreement to not go after one another and Sheetz decided to break that agreement by building right across from the Rutter's headquarters so now Rutter's has declared war. I'm not much of a fan of Sheetz but they have some stuff that's ok.

Rev, I definitlely meant it was great for gas station pizza, like Larson said. In the grand scheme of food, it's the spam of the pizza world.

18 replies in less than 4 hours on a post about gas station food. Lmao, you'd think it was the offseason or something.
