All stars canceled their portion after in the 3rd heat Britton Marvel flipped going into turn 3 into the grandstands. He was the 2nd car to flip out of the ballpark

Kevin Swindell was all over this one. He was saying yesterday the track wasn’t safe. His car wasn’t there tonight.

Driver is ok. 2 people in the stands were hit and definitely taken by ambulance. The only report they gave about them was it wasn’t serious and precautionary

Looked like most cars going into the turns hooked some serious ruts. Not good going full speed!

Right call was made & I am glad the decision was made. Hopeful everyone is ok. It was the 3rd nasty flip in 3 heat races. 2 of which cars went over the wall. And this happened at 10pm. There was no weather delay but just a situation once again of too many classes, and inefficency.

First I commend Atomic for trying to improve safety and being flexible this week. However, this is not the first program they have had that ran long & had a lot of classes. It's become the norm for them. Plus the rest rooms were disgusting & I'm someone who knows what I'm getting into when it comes to race track amenities but Damn.

Hot laps & qualifying took forever because each car went 2 laps & into the pits before the next one was pushed off due to the new wall. One car it took two tow trucks, I mean keeps with tow arms, to get it back to the pits. One Jeep going forward the other backwards. Then a push truck ran over a car breaking the wing, Jacobs ladder, and tire.

Did not start any heats until after 9:15pm. 3 big wrecks and by the time 10:15 rolled around the event was cancelled with only 2.875 heat races completed.

This was not the tracks best showing. The track continued withe the Late Model & 2 modified portions. A good portion left after the announcement not necessarily about the decision. Everyone understood for the most part why but just the fact of how long and drawn out everything was. Hope everyone is ok that was involved.

I agree about how late the show was going to be run. Like why in the hell were the modifieds and sport mods qualifying. Have them pull a pill, that alone would’ve saved 30 minutes. I understand why they only did 1 car qualifying, but they could’ve ran that so much more efficiently too.

Definitely the right decision to call it off and when the whole wall is completed with a catch fence it will be safer than ever, but currently it’s more unsafe than what it was prior. A spring car shouldn’t touch that track until it’s completed.

Why all those div ,when you have ALL STARS with 46 cars? No way would i go to that track. I can't imagine a kid or part time fan sitting thru all those time trials. Wayne Co. did it right the other night, Just 410's.

The big question here is whether or not the track will correct whatever problem it has now that this has happened.   Volusia didn't do anything after Joey Saldana flipped over the fence, then Dale Blaney went through the fence and people got hurt.    Jeff Swindell flipped over the turn 4 fence at Devils Bowl and landed on one of the stairways going up to the stands.   That was back around the 1989 or 1990 era, and that fence is exactly the same today as it was back then.   I guess people have to die before it gets anyone's attention.

Because the All Stars were not scheduled Friday, the other classes were. Atomic stepped up to give them a place to race. That being said they need to figure out how to run a show in a more timely fashion.

Fencing is the the biggest safety issue I see at most tracks, not walls. Some of these tracks have fencing that seems purely cosmetic.

It came out this morning that one of the fans suffered a broken back so I'd consider that more serious than the initial reports of minor injuries.  The Atomic press release includes a statement thanking resonders and fans who helped and mentions their actions possibly helping to prevent paralysis.

My feeble misinformed mind and surgically repaired neck tells me this was more serious than we were originally told.

I agree with the modified & sport mods. I understand that they moved the schedule around & helped other tracks but historically Atomic cannot run an efficient program with 4 classes. It goes back to the discussion months ago about how late is too late. 10pm I don't mind but when less than 3 heats have been completed thats unacceptable.

Not sure why the didn't push all the cars onto the track to make it easier & faster to push them off for hot laps & heats. Also they could have pushed the cars off from the infield since they were parking them there anyway. Could have done a lot of things better & still had the modifieds. Seemed like they had trouble getting wrecked cars off the track too.

Damn, nothing like a Monday morning qb. Atomic will fix what needs to fixed with the facility, and they will get their race procedures in order. Last night was their first night with the new wall.

Nick, you've bashed about everything with the track in just 2 posts here. Don't go if you hate it so bad.

I am thankful that it didn't turn out worse. Very sad to hear of the fan with the broken back. Classy Facebook post on the Atomic page from the fan who got hurt. I plan on donating to fund being set up for him.

Finally a shout out to Rob Hunter, owner of the former 10H car. He reached out to Brinton Marvel (the driver of the car that got into the stands) and is getting him a brand new Maxim chassis.

Larsonfan you're a nice guy & I haven't had a cross words with you before & have even agreed with you on a majority of things on here. It's not bashing if it's true I'm sorry that I'm not sorry. And no I probably won't be going back since this is not the first time things have run inefficient at Atomic.

I am very thankful that no one was hurt. We just had a topic on here a month or so ago about how long is too long for a show & what we expect. 10:15 and not even 3 heats completed is inefficient. Last week Attica had 6 Sprint heats, 3-4 LM heats, 1 c, 2 dashes, 1 B, and the features were on the track in that time.

We also talk about kids not being interested in cars/racing anymore. Well there were 7 of us last night aged 29-34 with our kids aged 3-6 who love Sprint cars. When it gets to be 9pm and a heat race happens they start getting cranky.

Now I am not someone who normally "bashes" tracks or even criticize them but when it happens over & over it gets aggravating. This isn't about lap times or tracks being too dry or heavy. It's about what a lot of us spoke about. Not starting on time, tow truck issues, and apparently not enough push trucks. It's one thing if it happens a few times but Everytime then no I won't go. And again I am glad everyone was ok and sorry if you feel this is bashing.

Oh and please don't think that I was mad because they cancelled the show because it was the right call & I'm glad they made it.

Why did the All stars agree to race there in the first place?
