Wonder how the post race recap in camp KKR will go. Props to Brad Sweet, that was unbelieveable.

I don’t want to bag on Pittman too much but how Bush league was it to drive by your teammate lapping you when you’re running 20th? If that didn’t happen it’s King Brad the 35th.

Though it's not a guarantee that Brad wins, he likely would have passed Schatz at some point. We'll never know if the 15 had any more, sounds like in his post race he didn't, but I'd say that too if I did. Agreed on Pittman, and to make it worst he parked it on the cushion in 3/4 for at least two laps right in front of the 49.

I don’t get that at all. My vote for douchebag move of the year. But wtf do I know, I’m not a racer.

If there ever wasnt a time for a lapped car to race a leader this was it. Cant believe he had to work that hard and lose that much ground to a team mate who was out of the running. Sweet sounded OK with it in the interview.

Back a couple weeks with the chat about going to 41 lap A Mains, my thought was thats a great gesture. The only guy who would disagree would be the leader who gets passed after the 40th lap. May have happened tonight.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I’m a Pittman fan. Paid attention to him lots of the race. Have to admit I was surprised when he turned Sweet’s slide job back underneath and recaptured the position. Does he and Sides get credit for holding Schatz up for 10 laps? The two were side by side for what seemed like forever allowing Sweet to catch back up and get in the race. Meh. Maybe not. They didn’t know Schatz was right there waiting for a hole. The hole finally showed up when Pittman got by Sides.

Great three day experience. Highly recommend it to any sprint car fan.

Glad you enjoyed it. Now you have to make it to Knoxville if you haven't already.

Pittman deal was terrible on his part but more importantly why didn't the flagman signal him to get the hell out of the way? Flagman does his job we could have had a interesting endind to donny schatz 3 in a row

The flagman must have thought to himself "do I throw the move over flag or do I let them fight it out and start a shit storm tomorrow morning on HH's message board?"  I guess he must have decided on option #2.  wink

So I went back and watched this again on the highlights and I see pittman doing nothing wrong. What fans don't realize is vision is very poor in a racecar on a dirt track. You have a helmet on so your side vision is compromised. You have tearoffs on that has dirt and dust on them and dust in the air visbility is low and at night time even with track lights it still seem dark with all of this going on. So as pittman is going into the corner at prolly 110 he' going for the high side he is looking where his car is headed which is going to be a couple feet from a concrete wall, at 100 mph. When sweet went underneath and slid him I gaurentee he just saw a blurr so he is racing so he just instinctively crossed over. This is all in a matter of a few seconds going over 100mph. Went he went by after crossing underneath it's very likely he saw who it was and so the next lap it happened in the same spot you could tell he back down and let him go. If youve never raced it's just hard to understand how bad visibility is in a racecar and how fast things happen going so fast it looks and feels alot different out there than it does in the stands on on video.

Not buying it. These guys are supposed to be the best. Plus they are all going nearly the same relative speed, so nobody is a blur zooming by.

As far as my experience goes with sprint car racing, the starters do NOT use the move over flag anymore.  This could be different in other worlds but the racing that I see, they are NEVER pulled out.

Some decent points but drivers check the boards all the time. If they can read a scoreboard they can see which car passed by. Daryn knew who it was. He was just going 100%. Hes a pro and he gives it everything every lap. Did he cost Brad a shot at the lead? Yes. But getting to Schatz and passing Schatz are two different things. I can guarantee you Don Don would not have gone quietly.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series does NOT use a "move over flag"--the thought being that drivers would prefer slower cars to hold their line rather than move abruptly.

That makes absolute sense from a safety and preserving equipment for the next stop on the tour standpoint.  I noticed the 49 trying to get around another car but it was more like the other driver was running the cushion and Brad had to catch him just right to keep up and hold his momentum to get around him in the inside.  The other car was holding it's line up against the wall and was not all over the track.  wink

I’d like to nominate Pittman for the Ryan Newman of the Race award.  That “didn’t see him” or “didn’t know who it was” argument is garbage.  These guys are professionals.

Just my two cents on the Pittman thing. I don't think him turning back under Sweet coming out of turn 2 was the wrong thing to do. These guys are not in sprint cars to lift and just let guys go back past them. However.... It was his line in turns 3 and 4 that was questionable. Multiple laps in a row he was entering mid track and sliding all the way up to wall. Essentially making his car as wide as possible. He could have just held one line in 3&4 after seeing Brad was trying to get past him. I dont believe he would have lost that much time by rolling through the middle for one set of turns. It was Sweet having to completely lift in 3&4 up against the wall that ultimately cost him the chance of reaching/passing Schatz

Real race cars don't have fenders...
