It’s certainly far and away the best Speedweeks, that’s for sure.

They had better have decently prepared tracks unlike the brutal one tonight at Waynesfield.  Huggy Pole Feature, doesn't get more lousy than that , such a shame for an excellent quality field of cars and nothing to race on.....

WCS always does a good job having a racey surface, but weather may get the win tomorrow. Sharon expect a very dry-slick surface from the get go but should have a good bottom grove and a cushion by the wall

That was a rare occurrence for Waynesfield last night. They usually have the best track of the week, not sure what happened there.

I was very upset too as it was my first trip to Waynesfield. I understand they probably lost the track due to the heat but I can see how the place could be awesome. Im sure I'll head back for the all-stars next year.

I don't want to hear EXCUSES, summer is at least 3 friggin' months long, adjust!  They had an unfortunate incident in the stands and an hour delay yet Nothing was done to the track during this time, WHY NOT....

Because they let the teams come out to the cars that were left on the track.

Now Eldora looked good for quite awhile compared to what it has been.

I have yet to see (that I remember) an Ohio track that hasn't turned into a dust bowl during the Feature race. I doubt that type of soil can be saturated enough to stay moist, without it being so damn wet it couldn't be raced on. It's almost like the water saturates so deep that it doesn't work it's way back to the surface. Almost like it's too sandy and just sucks the water in.

What happened in the stands? I heard the flagman was hurt too?

You can always drive down there and tell them how to run their track....

I *think* thats just it, it's more a dirt/soil with a low percentage of clay.  Clay holds and retains water. The "dirt" or soil in OHIO may drain quickly and as you note note retain water until it's beyond saturation and not able to be raced on.  The water may either saturate too deep or drain and not staurate at all.  But everyone knows OH tracks = dusty conditions.  Some tracks still prep really well, the joke is always OH = dust.  I know Sharon brought in new CLAY from PA I believe two years ago so that track in particular is clay based now, but it's real close to PA so they maybe a different soil makeup than rest of the state.

Both at Waynesfiled.  Flagman got injured and a little boy fell in the stands, the latter of which was the lengthy delay.  Saw a report on Twitter from his father that he was in Columbus and doing better and going through tests but should be a-okay.  Good to hear.

Pretty much correct with it being sandy like. Here in Columbus on Sunday I watered my garden at 3:30pm and by 4pm it hardly looked like I watered it at all. The humidity the past 4-5 days has been pretty bad to the point that when you walk out of a building you instantly start sweating. I don't mind the heat and prefer this over the dreaded winters we get but if you are a farmer or a dirt track operater it is not a good time for you. The natural make up of the dirt around here is already bad enough but then you add in all the heat it just means that the dust is going to be bad. To be honest I am surprised that the tracks haven't been even more dusty than what they have been or slicked off.

In Waynesfields case I would say from all of the fan reviews and videos in the past, they have probably had 99 good-great features out of 100 features. Just Sunday was probably the worst ranked one and I really did not find it to be that bad considering all things.

Wayne county had a great track last night with little dust. They worked their butts off on the track during every break and it paid off and A was on the track at 9:30. I know they got in new clay this past winter, not sure where from though.

As far as Sharon they brought in the same clay that Port Royal has. They worked a lot with Port 2 winters ago redoing the banking and bringing in the surface. Too bad the only way Sharon preps it is for the surface to be hard and slick. The racing ends up alright but the guys are just crawling around the track

Somebody has to, don't ya' think?  This is not Brain Surgery, Gene Frankart isn't that far away, he's a Master.  I'd rather put it in here and shame them, especially if it's true, as this was.  Might be a long summer for the fans if the Feature is a one groove huggy pole race.  Hey if the USGA can lose the golf course like they did at The US Open this past Saturday then anyone can, it happens.  They fixed it for the next day, maybe these guys will fix it for the next race, it's a nightly deal unless you really know what you are doing and then you work the track all week long also, ask Gene.....

If you went there nearly every week like I do instead of seeing the place once a year on a computer screen, you'd know it's not a normal track for Waynesfield.

It was normal for me for that night and deserved the attention I gave it.  Kyle Larson complained about the track in his interview after finishing second, life goes on.  The feature was lousy for me that night and I don't care about you or the rest of the season, maybe if you hugged a tree you would feel better, sorry....

Ohh calm down MSPN its not like you to get worked up about something as little as this. No excuses for the track, it was not its typical racy self. This is not an excuse but just a fact but, the track does have limited resources. To be honest it is a little hole in the wall/diamond in the rough facility that probably works on a 100th of a budget as most other tracks. I cannot begin to emphasize enough of how small of an operation the track is. They cannot even sell alcohol at the place because the county is dry (allow you to take it in). The thing that keeps people going to the place is the product on the track. A lot of the drivers in the area and even outside of the area say it is their favorite track. Every track has off nights for one reason or another and unfortunately Sunday was a small off night for Waynesfield. Below are just some samples of what Waynesfield is actually like

He's also said Waynesfield is one of his favorite tracks as well. That says a lot.

We need the "little guys" like tracks such as Waynesfield for the sport to continue to exist. Blasting them for a bad track on 92-degree sunny day does not help. I'd think someone who has done it it all and seen it all according to you would know that.  It's a great place. Move on and find another track to bash.
