You can count me in if I can find a motor for that weekend. If you know anyone with one to rent let me know I'd love to race at Boone.

Will the purse for the Boone, IA 305 races be settled soon? Maybe at the MW 305 meeting this Sunday, the 3rd? Many of us would like to know before commiting.

Knoxville $400 to win $50 to start in a field with some top motors and drivers that have had previous experience in upper classes makes it tough to do it except for the love of racing and the thrill of competition and plus experience and fun.Past experience tells me it is hard to run a weekly 410 for much less than $1000 per night if you fiqure motor wear and tear and dont crash as that usually costs about $2000 minimum up to $10K or. more. There are only a few that are strictly hired to drive as most racers own their own car and work hard at a day job to be able to shine on Saturday. The feeling of people asking for your autograph or cheering for you or booing is priceless.I still havent fiqured out why it takes a big toter or semi to get to race when people complain about costs from food to pit passes and payout.I enjoy any kind of racing if it is close racing.Nascar races are not any longer than features at Knoxville they just take a few hours to set up the feature[ride around] before a yellow comes out so they can race.

For what it is worth, if you read the earlier post, it does not cost $60 dollars to race with the MW305's. If you only want to race with them once for the experience it only costs $20 dollars. They give you a discount if you only plan to race with them once or twice. Obviously if you race with them 3 times or more you may as well pay for a membership. In addition, it costs $125 dollars to become a member of DIRTcar, which you HAVE to pay if you want to race with the WoO. There is no discount if you only want to race with them once or twice for the experience. The ASCS does not require a membership fee, does however require a pill draw fee to draw your start spot. UMSS requires a membership fee, and the list goes on. The only way for these smaller series to make ends meet is to ask for a little extra help from the competitors that race with them. I for one thank the people in the background that try to get us more sprint car shows. The memberships are here to stay, including at the HIGHEST level. I don't want to pay the extra money in memberships either, but if I use it as a reason to not race, then I will soon be out of places to do so. $20 extra dollars to race with them once is a bargain nowadays, and certainly wouldn't keep me from the track. Good luck to all those racing with the MW305's, I'm pulling for you as a group to make it! It's where I got my start, and I won't forget it. Respectfully, Austin Johnson

Thanks for that post Austin, and if Travis reads this thank you for sticking up for the club. I try not to post because I don't want any ill will toward me getting associated with the club. Midwest 305 Sprint Cars really is a good club with good intentions, we just want to have more places to race than just Knoxville. I was just looking at the ASCS 305 races going on in the south. They church $150 per year plus they charge a $10 pile draw fee. Granted they get insurance with that price, but it looks like that insurance policy has a lot of loop holes. Real point is that things are not free. Bob Hildreth donates his time to set up these races, the board members travel every month to attend the meetings, and the only thing they get for it is complaints. SO it is very nice to hear some of the people saying thank you here on the post. We did separate the membership cost for those people who only wanted to race once or twice with the club. We did this to accommodate our racers in Jackson. My opinion on the membership fee and the way I voted in the meeting was it should be mandatory. Guys we can not even get a free checking account to run the club with an INC. business name. Figure 20 drivers at $60 each, that's $1200. This hardly covers just the website fees with domain names, hosting, ect. And like or dislike me, I seem to be one of a few board members that is fighting for a points fund to encourage drivers to actually want to join our group. So it is very frustrating even hearing these arguments. No one wants to chip in time or money to help out, but everyone wants to reap the benefits. Its like the whole country has turned into a bunch of Democrats. Thank you to everyone who is helping out the club, and a BIG thank you to the Midwest 305 Board Members for your efforts.
