Press release from USA Raceway:

NFL Pro Bowler Enters the Super Bowl of Modified Racing

Tucson, Arizona (October 20th, 2009) – Jeremy Newberry, 11 year NFL veteran and 2 time Pro Bowler, will make the trip to Tucson’s USA Raceway in his new Jason Hughes Chassis to play in the Wes Hurst Memorial. Newberry, a seasoned offensive lineman, will not be blocking for anyone as he tries to move to the front in pursuit of the $15k winner’s portion of the lucrative Wes Hurst purse.

Newberry, from Antioch, California, was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1998 where he played most of his 11 year career. During the course of his NFL tenure, Newberry was awarded the 49ers "Bobb McKittrick award" an unprecedented three times, which is given to the team’s offensive lineman who best exemplifies the dedication, excellence and commitment.

“I’m having a great time racing and I really look forward to coming back to Arizona and being a part of the Wes Hurst Memorial” commented Newberry. “This event is special for a lot of people and will be the Super Bowl of modified racing. We’ve really stepped up our program with the help of J.R. Baxter and are confident that we will be competitive as ever.”

The Wes Hurst Memorial which takes place on the weekend following Thanksgiving enters it 5th year and is anticipated to be the largest Modified event of 2009. The best of the best will tackle USA Raceway's 3/8-mile clay oval for three days on November 27, 28 and 29, with nearly $100,000 in prize money to be distributed over the course of the blockbuster event. An unprecedented $15,000 top prize awaits the eventual winner as that name will be added to past champions that include Christy Georges, Richie Tosh, Tommy Weider and 2008 winner Terry Phillips.

Oh believe me, we have heard and seen..lol

I actually like the Saints, and Drew Brees. I have been a die hard Cards fan since day 1, and have season tickets also since 1..but if the Cards were out of the running, then i would be 100% for the Saints to G0 ALL THE WAY!

Hey Grady, I am a die-hard Raider fan back in the days of Frank Youell Field (their beginnings) in Oakland. And I don't want to talk about... Smile

The reference to Newberry (Go Bears!) was a reference to his playing days at the University of California (Bezerkly). Missed seeing you at the Ovals.
