Sad news concerning a good guy. Palmer was a long time, real sprint car fan, a wonderful photographer and an all around great guy (even if he was a "Fighting Sioux" hockey fan). He'll be missed at the Knoxville Raceway, at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum and at other race tracks in the Midwest. My best wishes and condolences to Joanne, her family, Palmer's family and all their friends. Rest in Peace Buddy!!!! " Let's Go Sioux"

Larry Janicsek

P.S.-Thanks to "The Herrrmannator" for his post.

We are sure going to miss you Palmer. My prayers go out to Joanne and the family. Palmer was always a genuine and caring guy. Always asking about you personally to make sure things were going good, and then it was time to bench race a little. The last couple of years Palmer and I started debating USHL hockey...lol...sure gonna miss him. GO BUCS!

So sorry to hear about Palmer Berger. I am glad I knew him and took a lot of teasing from him, but he and his wife were great people. He will be missed. RIP Buddy. Sincere condolences to the family.

Although I haven't talked to Palmer for a few years, I have known him since his days at the Fargo Forum and the Grand Forks Hearld. We used to travel together to Husets in the early 80's and shared some good laughs and drinks and went to a few Sioux games Palmer was a genuine person who said it like it was and you knew you were getting the whole bill of goods. My son saw him this year at the outlaw show and he said we'd have to get together this summer. Too bad this won't happen now. R.I.P. friend....Wayne Farmer

We will miss Palmer, he was a great fan and all around super person who loved life. Joanne was the best thing to ever happen to Palmer. We are going to miss his jokes, his smiles and stories for years to come. May his family and friends have the comfort of knowing he is in a better place with the rest of our racing friends who have went before us. I have nicknames for all my racing friends and I will always remember him as: ( CHEESEBURGER) R.I.P.

Sorry to hear of this news. I spoke to Palmer many times during the years I attended the Nationals as a photographer. He and his wife were always very friendly and pleasant folks each and every time I visited with them. My condolences to his surviving family and friends. RIP.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Joanne and family. Palmer was great friend who always took the time to ask how things are going with the family. He would always call about once a month during racing season just to see what was going on. The Chili Bowl and the Knoxville Nationals will NOT be the same without him. He will be truly missed!! RIP

Dang, this is not a good day for news. That big ol' lug might have been as friendly and nice as any shooter I've ever known. Joanne will surely miss her huggy bear and I'm truly sad for her. I surprised him a few times at out of the way tracks and we had some real good laughs at them. I liked sharing some of my travels with him and even mentioned a few hockey war stories as well, he laughed easily. The racing community has lost a very good ambassador and all of us in here have lost a good friend, RIP Palmer. Wherever you are and I'm sure it's a better place, Take It Easy....

All, If you're interested you can read Palmer's obituary and see a great photo of him at this web site: www.amundsonfuneralhome.com. You'll immediately notice his ever present smile.
