It'll be very interesting to see how this works. I probably didn't fully grasp what was being said in the article. Is he putting the race track and all the other assets on auction to sell to one buyer? Or is the race track stand alone in the auction? Is there a possibility someone will buy it at auction since they can probably get it for far less than his asking price?

The auction seems like good news. At least it will be sold for what people are willing to pay. As long as he doesnt hold a reserve on it. Maybe 2 potential buyers could agree to work together instead of bid each other up.
Is the land worth anything to anyone outside of raxing circles? Developers or farmers?

I took it as meaning the racetrack and it's property being sold together. Like most all big auctions, he will probably set a reserve price- a minimum- and have wording that says he can refuse any and all offers.
If someone was going to get it for an awesome price, it probably would have happened by now. He's hoping this stunt will spur some interest so there won't need to be an auction. Note the end of the little video presentation. After saying how awesome the track is and implying how awesome they ran it, they beg you-twice- to get in touch if you or anybody you know is interested. I haven't checked Craig's list to see if it's on there too.
I hope it gets sold and I hope someone tries to make a go of it. The right people, I think, could make it work. Chuck was not the right people.

The land has value only as a hay field. It's lowland next to a creek that floods a lot. I believe 2 years out of the last dozen the track was flooded in the springtime.

From the Badlands pawn website:
"A turn-key Badlands Motor Speedway property as described below "A turnwill be for sale in a "Buy Now" fashion for $9,450,000 up until Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 at 5pm. If nobody purchases this property by that time, approximately 1 week later on or about June 20th at the Speedway in Brandon South Dakota we will be holding a National Scale Auction to fully auction off all of the property and assets to one buyer. We are finishing up the details on this over the next few weeks and everything will be published and posted at that time to allow potential bidders to pre-register and prove financial ability to purchase the property thru the Auction House."

No, it is a flood zone. so in reality it is worth less to anyone but a race track, unless they wanted to move half of south dakota to fill in the hole.

This means we will finally be rid of DFC,
after he bought the joint i never stepped foot in the place.
I know it would be a stretch but it would be awesome if Todd from Jackson Motorplex could get a group to go in with him to buy it, we would have 2 good tracks up north put a points fund together with Knoxville we could have a hot bed for sprint cars again

"Chuck was not the right people"
That's an understatement.
You could throw a lawn dart into the stands on Saturday night of the Knoxville Nats and have a 99% chance of hitting someome more knowledgeable and more qualified to run a race track than Chuck was.
The other 1% is the likely hood of not hitting anyone.

I was contemplating what DFC stood for, but I think I figured it out. Is the first word dumb and the last word Chuck?

If I hear one more person mention lawn darts and Knoxville, I'm going to throw up. (Or upChuck, if you prefer.)

I've never been to Husets but after watching the videos, it seems like the grandstands are farther away from the track than most dirt tracks. That and the pitch of the grandstands seems shallower than most. Is that right or are my eyes deceiving me?
Do the drivers always unload in the infield and park the haulers out back?

Grandstands are actually closer than they seem. The pitch is also steeper than it looks. The grandstands are built on a hillside. The track is recessed on the front chute and is ground level on the back stretch. Visibility was always good, but I heard mention that some of the rails in the grandstand after the remodel might be obstructing vision for certain seats. They have in the past pitted back behind the back stretch when car counts were high. The only vehicle entrance to the track is the back stretch gate, so it's less convenient for getting racers on and off track. Weekly shows were always pitted in the infield. I'm speaking of when it was Husets. We enjoyed many Sunday nights at Husets, even though it was two hours from home to the ticket window.

I'd say the lower grandstands are somewhat flatter than average. They put you right down by the fence where you can sometimes fear that you'll have a car in your lap. Above that is the walkway and the upper grandstands. The upper grandstands are probably a little further back than other tracks but the view is wide open. The upper grandstands are on a steep hill. The videos must be deceiving.
The fendered cars, 305's,360's and etc. usually unload in the pits and park their trailers out back. The 410's all pit outside the back gate with their haulers.

Maybe you should make a list of how the track should be run so the new owner doesn't offend you.
