How was it determined that Lucas Wolfe won the feature over Mark Smith ? Race Monitor had him the winner after the race , but then the officials changed it. Mark was told he was ahead at the finish line , but Race Monitor showed that Lucas ran a quicker ET? Are they drag racing or r/c racing at the Port now?

I looked at race monitor within 30 seconds of the finish it showed that Wolfe won by .004.  Also the scoreboard also showed the 5W in first and 1 in second, which is linked to the scoring system.  The scoring loop at port is before the flag stand, so he migh thave beat him to the flag stand but that's not the offical finish line.  The only thing i see in Race Monitor is if you look at the Mark's lap times it does show that he was 1st on the final lap, so it's hard to say what really happened.  Either way i hear that they are planning on replacing the currnet flag stand and building a new one at the correct location next year.

For most of us the finish didn't make sense, but that is actually how it was explaned on this week's Sprint Car Unlimited podcast.

This.  Lucas hit the scoring loop first and won by .004.

Why was it first shown that Mark was the winner on race monitor? I understand the rest of what happened, and what is going to happen with the flagstand and all.

The new flagstand will be moved in line with the scoring loop in the future. The scoring loop is now about 15 to 20 feet in front of the flagstand it has been that way for years every since the loops were installed. Port is not the only track that the scoring loop is not in line with the flagstand. The officals changed nothing!

im not sure port has a certain place the transpoders go. if they dont the cars could have had them in different spots. if one car had it towards the front bumper and the other car had it towards the rear bumper, that is almost a car length and would show in time on race monitor

It is confusing.   On the SCU podcast (16:30 - 18:00 ), Mark said that it was due to an "elapsed time" from lap 1 to lap 25.   Here are some things he said.

“They go by an elapsed time.    From lap 1 to lap 25 and I guess it didn’t go by how the actual race finished.  It went by the elapsed time.   Is the way I was explained.   I could be absolutely wrong, but that is kinda how I took it”

and

“His overall time from lap 1 when the race started to lap 25 was I guess .0004 quicker than my 1 to 25 lap time.    But it didn’t really seem to matter that we crossed the line first.”

and

“It is what it is”  (a few times&hellipwink

and

“I could be absolutely wrong, but that is how I took it.”

I'd suggest listening to the whole interview.    But I doubt it will make sense...

Below are the results directly from MyLaps.  You guys need to keep in mind, and I don't think many realize this, RaceMonitor is NOT a timing and scoring system.  You can find the MyLaps results on Port Royal's website and Selinsgrove does it also.  But the Race Monitor APP did have the scoring correct on my phone and everyone else I talked to.  And as most people probably did, I watched the scoreboard, it never flickered at the finish and never changed.
