Being from Texas and how we are 410 poor down here (and I mean dirt poor) all we have is 360 racing. I have followed Aaron Reutzel since his days with the ASCS Gulf South Region running 360's. With him being a 360 standout one could only wonder how he would do 410 racing and with there being a lot of 360 drivers not succeeding running 410's this was something to be seen for Reutzel.

I was pretty pumped to see him head out to Cocopah for the 2015 winter heat 5 night show. To be honest I didn't know what to expect but was hoping that he just made the A main's. This guy makes 4 of the 5 A main's with winning the 5th night show and this being his first 410 outing ...! That same year he ran a few WoO shows and his very first race with them he logged a top 5 finish. Later in 2015 he heads out to Cali to run the Roth Motorsports 83 car in the Peter Murphy classic just to find himself in a battle with Kyle Hurst and Jason Meyers to take the win from them. After 2015 I was convinced the kid needs to be 410 racing full time.

The handful of 410 races in 2016 and 2017, finally things have come together for him to go 410 racing full time in 2018. Now that the dust has settled from his first 410 win with the WoO I couldn’t help but look back at his short time running 410's and to let it sink in that this young man has what it takes to be competitive in a 410 within any organization. I counted the best I could and since 2015 he has only ran with the WoO in the neighborhood of 25 races. Im not just sure how many drivers have won their first WoO race in less than 30 races, but it can't be many. This young man in my opinion fits the 410 bill. I would love to see him run the WoO fulltime but beggars can’t be chooser's so I’m very content to see him run full time with the ASCoC and 30 or so shows with the WoO.

We lost another great 360 driver to the lure of 410 racing ...! lol

410 poor is an understatement for Texas!   360s are pretty much dead too.    Racing in Texas just flat sucks unless you're in love with RaceSaver 305s.    I agree with you on Reutzel for sure.   I've watched him year after year get faster and faster in 360s and very happy he's doing well in 410.

Yeah we are the 410 ghetto of the country lol. In this part of Texas if you don't go to see the ASCS Gulf South Region there really isn’t any 360 racing, so yeah i agree that 360 racing is in real bad shape down here.

I can't help but wonder why Reutzel chose to run with the ASCoC instead of the WoO. My guess is money, it obviously takes a lot more money to run the WoO compared to the ASCoC just because of the amount of shows one runs compared to the other. I know it’s not that he's scared of the competition.

If he does well with the ASCoC this year and the race team merger between him and Baughman clicks, my bet is we will see him run with the WoO next year. If that’s the case, he will be a great addition to the WoO tour.

It makes sense to spend 500 000 to gain experience instead of 1 000 000. Maybe 5th average in Allstar pays as well as 10th average in WoO.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Sounds like you're maybe from the Houston area.   I'm in the Dallas area and thank God that Devils Bowl is still open.    When they run an ASCS show they usually only run two and sometimes three support classes.   If you go to any of the 1/4 mile tracks around here they make you sit through another six or seven classes, which I won't do.    Hopefully I'll be able to travel out to Kilgore some this year and catch some shows out there.

I think Reutzel as an All Star will be good for him.    I think he will win some races with them.   If he goes on the Outlaw tour he has to compete every night with Donny, Brad, David, Sheldon, Shane, etc.   That would be tougher for him, but he will be there eventually.

"I think Reutzel as an All Star will be good for him"...' agreed. Start in the minor leagues & work your way up. I think he'll be a contender right away, & judging from what I saw at Cocopah, should be competitive with WoO too

Well I’m willing to share the 410 ghetto of the country with you guys up there ...lol

But a 5 hour drive for me gets me to the Dallas area and that’s not saying much. I’m south of Houston, really close to where Reutzel is from. Actually a friend of a friend lives next door to him down in Clute.

There's a lot of talent in the ASCoC and they meet some really tuff local talent from track to track and it’s hard to think of them as the minor league, but in all reality it is.

No doubt there's plenty of talent in Allstars, & I enjoy watching them, but compared to WoO, farm system

If i was from your neck of the woods, I'd spend lots of time in Louisiana. Love the music & food!
