My wife and I will be embarking on an extended RV trip around the U.S. next year and I plan to check a few tracks off my bucket list along the way. Among them I hope to hit Eldora and Williams Grove. I understand that the Grove does not have beer sales but that you can bring your own beer in. Is this correct? If so, are there only certain spectator areas where beer is allowed?  We'll be more or less playing it by ear regarding the route and scheduling of our trip. I'm thinking the Grove should be fairly easy to hit since they have racing almost every Friday night. Eldora might be a little tougher. I had a look at their schedule and was a bit surprised to see how few nights of racing take place there each year. If nothing else I may have to be satisified with just dropping by to ask someone if I can come in for a look around, Haha!

Yes, cans only. 12 pack coolers or 1 handle I believe.  U can drink pretty much anywhere.

12 pack coolers and 1 handle?  Where do guys get this shit?  18in max on cooler. Drink everywhere but the pits. Designated smoking areas for grandstand seats. If you want liquor it's gotta be plastic.

You have to watch a race at Eldora. I have never been to Knoxville but there's nothing like Eldora IMO.

John, stay in touch as your travel around the country, I have some people you would like to meet in many places, lots of great peeps at the Grove as well.  You also need to meet Stub at the Big E and he will set you up with a bunch of other Hosers, not many of them who have 'friends' from Hawaii.....

Sounds like a good time . Camping at the Grove is free except for Outlaw shows. 18" cooler-no glass  -- Linclol or Port Royal the next nite on Saturday with a stop at the EMMR museum in between and you have a great weekend

Eldora , no carry in beer allowed but they sell it at a reasonable price . Been to the 4 crown nats  the last 2 years and had a great time.

We are doing another bucket list trip this year --Knoxville Nationals

Thanks Michael! I will do my best to keep you updated on our plans. We have sort of a rough idea of our intinerary but Kathy and I will be keeping it flexible as far as where we plan to go and when we'll be there. Hope all's well in your world!

Thanks to everyone for the info! Of course the Outlaws are cool but I'm perfectly happy to attend a regular weekly show at the Grove, especially if it means that things would be a bit less crowded. I did see that Lincoln isn't too far away and could possibly go there the following night. I've been to Knoxville before but will probably hit it again since we will likely be traveling through that general vicinity anyway.

Lincoln is somewhat closer than Port Royal, but either is an easy drive, nice countryside.

I would recommend "special event" (Big $, Speedweek, Outlaws, or Allstars) at the Grove over regular Friday show. They're less crowded for a reason....WoO show is crowded but worth it!

Right in the middle of EMMR, Grove, Lincoln & really close to Susky is Lake Gifford Pinchot, nice place for a swim....

Thanks for the suggestions! A 'special event' would certainly be nice but I think I'm going to have to be satified with whatever is on the schedule when we're passing through. Maybe I'll get lucky but, if not, I'm happy to support the local runners too.

Any speedweek would be terrific and I have to imagine the Ohio version is one of the great ones. Though it would be one heck of a lot of fun, this journey won't be entirely devoted to racing so I'll have to be satisfied with just catching a race here and there along the way.

Hey, variety is the spice of life! I try to hit music festivals & sprint races every summer, swimming in lakes & trying to catch that big bass at my friend's farm pond in Ohio.... 12 yr. old stuck in a 67 yr. old body....
