Just posted that the races at Dodge City have been cancelled and will not be made up.  I realize that the WoO have a monument job in scheduling races for all the tracks that participate.  However, to even schedule a race at the end of October in the middle of Kansas is a very high risk.  The same goes for Salina, Ok.  They were lucky to get that one in.  Had it been this weekend, like DC it too would have been cancelled.  Perhaps scheduling events after October 1st should be limited to the deep Southern areas.  Comments?

Wasn't that a rescheduled date from an earlier cancellation?

Any chance we see some WoO cars at Susky now? Marks, or Shark Racing?

As I recall, neither Salina or Dodge City were rescheduled races.  Both were included in the original schedule.  Considering Dodge City is primarily a special event track, doesn't it make since to schedule them during warmer weather months with a Fri-Sat show and not scheduling a mid-week show the following week and using those days as makeup days?  There's some tracks that solely depend on a WoO event to turn a profit each year and one would think that Dodge City is one of those.

What were the temps that caused this freeze out?

I've been watching as I was considering a motorcycle ride out there. Lows in the 20's, highs in upper 40's. I guess I'll watch Charlotte weather now

Sounds more like bad luck than bad management. They have been in Pa. and New York the last two weeks. It is possible with a four or five p.m. start as was used in Pa. that the race would have been held in Pa.

Sounds like a great theory as long as they schedule for northern Sask in July.

I dont know the weather from state to state but it sounds like a safer plan

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I think both Salina and Dodge were earlier rainouts. I know Salina was for sure and Dodge usually runs around the 4th of July in previous years. They used to do both Dodge and Husets around the 4th.

Even though there are races scheduled in mid Iowa in April many get rained out or I have been to Knoxville when they raced in cool temps around 40+ and the crowd was too small to make a profit.I used to race snowmobiles many years ago and cold was never an issue but anything much above freezing could be reason for cancellation. The coldest race I was ever in started in Winnepeg Canada and ended  in St Paul 500 miles and chill factor was near 50 deg below and the send off crowd was huge.

Possible invaders at the Susky Showdown on Saturday.

Shark Racing - likely.  Jacob won it last year.
Brent Marks - likely.  He had a good run last year too.
Joey Saldana - confirmed in Indy Parts #71.
KKR guys  -  possible
Gravel -   Hopefully
Tim Shaffer - Hopefully
Mark Smith - Hopefully

Part timer Lance Dewease is also confirmed.

Both races were booked on the schedule to those dates.

Last year Dodge City didn't host an WoO event and Badlands took the July 4 weekend.

Lakeside followed by Salina has always made logistical sense and SLS does a great job.

This year Badlands had the same weekend and then we all know what happened with the track.

Cooler temps in October rather than the hot windy July temps made Dodge City an attractive date.

Can't control the weather, so thats the way it goes. Dodge is one of my favorite tracks to attend and Tommie Estes Jr. does

and incredible job running the place. Temps in the 40's with a low of 22 on Friday and windy isn't attractive, Sat 54 with a low of 32.

Hopefully many of the teams will make the trip to Susky and support Kolten's race.

Chickens - it was snowing during hot laps at Lincoln a few years ago for the Icebreaker. They weren't scared. Smile

And, before you go getting your panties all in a posse knot, I'm kidding - likely lots less overhead for the Icebreaker.

Is it not a rule that WOO guys can only run off date races if it is a track that has a WOO race?

Next year the WOO should schedule races at Susky,Grandview and a second date at either Port or Lincoln instead of all the trips to New York and New Jersy which dont get much local support.,

If they request to run a certain race they can get approved to run a non outlaw race. I.e. Sheldon Haud running the ASCoC race at Wayne County (OH) and Brent Marks running at one of the Central PA tracks one of the weekends that the Arkansas race rained out. Also, more recently both Jac Haud and PPM ran at Mansfield on Friday before Port Saturday.
