Since I was in the southern part of Tucson this morning I took a side trip past the dirt track.  It's sad to see it sitting idle with no planned activities on the horizon.  I doubt that any sort of maintenance is taking place as when I was there for a dirt late model race in January there was actually a hole in the chain link fence above the crash wall coming out of the fourth turn.  On a positive note the Oleanders are obviously getting watered as they look good.

Although it's about a 90 mile drive one way I'm contemplating a trip to Arizona Speedway in Apache Junction/Creek to see a USAC Southwest non-wing show as, to me, dirt track racing is where it's at.

It appears the last tennants went in there with nothing on their adjenda except making money . In the process all local racing that was happening at that track was lost .. I guess i just dont understand the bulldozer mentality ! The sad thing is this has small  negative effect on an industry we all love .
