Surprised no backlash at the STN changing the format to two $3000 to win and $300 to start shows and skipping the big money show. Gotta think car owners can not be too thrilled with this change. Wonder if some of the big dogs went home. Would have thought if they were going to make this change atleast put a bigger purse each night. Wonder if they refunded the entry fees. Stuff like this seems normal for I-30 ownership.

You also have to remember that grandstands will not have near the people on thurs and fri as they would have had on wed, thurs, fri, sat.  You you have to have ticket buyers to pay big purse.

I'm sorry but you are very wrong, if they are good at there job. They should be out promoting and the purse should have all but been covered by the hard work the promoter should have done. tracks/promoters that are trying to pay purses out of the back gate are not the sharpest tools in the shed. they need to get off there ass and do there job to be seucsessfull.

normally I would sign jmo, but this is the

TRUTH

not trying to singal this track out it goes for a large percentage of tracks today.

the gate money front and back should pay the track bills, and the rest should be profit. And tracks paying purses out the gate money are going to loose way more than they will ever make.

And how is a $3,000/win and $300/start (24th) race on a Thursday with no entry fee and a $30 pit pass 'back gate' promoting?

A promoter would have to be VERY good to get the attendance at 2 mid weeks shows to equal the attendance of 3 mid week and one weekend show.

Not even the best promoter/track in the world can get a Thursday show to equal a Saturday show.   Not Knoxville, not Eldora, not even Humpy Wheeler could do it.

There should be a rule that one has to have some experience in having their backside financialy on the line at a motorsports event prior to spewing their opinions on how a promoter 'should or should not' pay the purse for their programs.

Who's really not that smart, the track for doing it and it working or the drivers for showing up and supporting it. I know plenty of drivers/owners and even they'll admit they can get mad about how a promoter handles something but come race day their all lined up at the gate to get in. If the promoter see's a drop in attendance thats likely when they will change how they are doing something.

Do you know if the back gate pit fees even cover the purse? Often for special shows the promoter has a sponsor thats covering part of that. Someone stated $30 for a pit pass, that to me is the norm, you have to charge to get in the pits and it needs to be more than the grandstand because you can't have all the spectators just enter through the pit because its cheaper.

Kings Royal just added $100,000 to  Kings Royal purse.  They said the only way they could do this was to add 1 more day of racing to the Kings Royal.  You should be able to relate this to 4 day stn to 2 day stn.  Also the granstands at stn were not packed.  There were alot of empty seats.

shame on this woman to go forward with this event. dont know a race fan that doesnt look at the weather channel prior to any event. monday the weather forecast for sat was 80% rain and given the fact little rock was in the bulls eye of  patrica and the onslat of rain for several days prior to the event why would you make these racers  waste money on fuel, motels, food,at an average $1000 per car, saw a car from canada that traveled 1700 hundred miles one way.and this doesnt count the race fan waste as well. all in the name greed . and guess who was in the office making the calls ? wasnt ascs emment had sence enough to send his people home late wed afternoon. didnt want to be part of the bull---t going on with JAG BAG estes and this woman. wont call her a promoter. then want race the community to come back in march. open your eyes and see what really went on here. got it figured out yet!

I haven't figured out "the onslat of rain" or  "then want race the community to come back in march" yet!

You either need to only post when sober or go back to school.

Well.......You had it half right.   Any track that relies on the back gate to pay the purse is not doing it's job.   However, the rest of your post is a mystery to me.   When you stay the promoter should be promoting to cover the purse, what are you saying?   I always thought that promoting was getting more people to come to the races.   Apprarently in your world promoting the races means something completely differnt than in my world.

what i said was that it rained like hell for 3days because of partica . they should have canceled because the long range forecast told them that sat was calling for 80% rain. the racers  were only there because of sat purse. the drivers that raced thur only did so hoping to get back something . the top 4 finshers from thur made any money to offset their losses, the rest pissed and not real happy. so ,big mouth why dont you reach into your pocket dole money to these little guys! these arent world of outlaw teams. these are racing teams that race week on average, and they deserve more respect then they got.

They seen the same forecast as we did. We all were optimistic the wrather would hold off as I seen multiple different forecasts leading to the race. To me it sounds like you need to call Tracey and be her promoter. I was happy with the 1 day cause it was good racing besides the tore up cars.

You and Bob Altman should get together. I'll bet you guys would make one hell of a promotional team. That reminds me of something he would say only I will give you credit, your space bar etiquette and punctuation is far better than his. See, he could use a guy like you. I don't have a horse in the race here. I wasn't there, I won't be going there anytime soon and I don't own a team so with that out of the way, I couldn't help but notice that you asked the question of why they would "MAKE" the teams and fans travel there just to waste a bunch of time and money. You're right about one thing, it sure didn't work out too good for anyone involved but beyond that, I don't know what the hell you're thinking. So were the fans and teams forced to show up despite the shitty forecast or did they choose to do so themselves? I'm pretty sure they chose to drive there themselves. They had access to the same forecast as you and everyone else did and they rolled the dice hoping for the best but unfortunately for all involved, it didn't work out and that sucks ass. No doubt about it. As far as what role certain people played in the outcome, I don't know but the fact is, no one was forced to attend like you stated.

Every team knows they are going to tow to some shows that get rained out every year. It is part of the deal. I'm sure all those guys knew the weather forecast also. They took a chance, weathermen are not always right.

Next I suppose you will think the fans should be rewarded for going to the races. fiXXXer is right, you should join up with Altman. You guys think alike.
