My experience from living in Marion county my whole life is the fair board has there heads up each other's butts about 1/2 the time I would love to see some younger people in office that have a more progressive thought process. Growing up Knoxville was the the nicest track in the country but now it's getting passed by others in many ways just look at what Freddie is doing in PA or what Tony is doing at Eldora or a track that doesn't get much press wheatland mo I hope the marion county fair board wakes up before its to late

That is shocking it has something to do with the fair board delaying renovations.

"His resignation will go into effect after Nationals" according to the article.

I will be the first to admit that I don't always agree with what the fairboard does. But I commend them on this decision. Sounds like a very responsible decision to wait to see where they are financially before moving forward. Personally I don't understand why Knoxville needs more suites anyway. They have suites already that sit empty all year. Plus the suites in turn one would be a terrible place to watch the races as you would be looking directly into the sun most of the night. Turn 3 makes more sense to me. I tip my hat to Brian for the improvements that he made but if he is willing to walk away because the fairboard is trying to be good stewarts of their money, then best of luck in your new career. My last opinon on this is, it has got to be next to impossible to have 24 bosses. It will be very difficult to find a top tier replacement. I am sure there will be some hilarious rumors flying around at Nationals. How long will it take for the"Tony Stewart is going to buy Knoxville" rumor to start?

A couple things I took from the article:
1. His resignation is not in effect until the Nationals have concluded.
2. He resigned "in protest" of the actions of the fair board. To me this leaves room for him to rescind his resignation.
Yes he has resigned but does that mean he is 100% done. Not in my mind. Brian is good for Knoxville and I don't think we have heard the last of this story yet. Just my .02.

1. Agree
2. Depends. If they accepted his resignation, he is done. If they choose to not accept it (he's under contract), it's up to them whether he is done or not. Seems to me like this might be a hasty decision on his part.
According to the article, they only thing the Fairboard did was vote to postpone their decision on the expansion until after financials are available at the end of the fiscal year. Many businesses do this all the time (especially when it comes to spending large sums of $$), and this would be nearly 4 times as much as they have EVER SPENT on renovations (the last renovation/expansion was in 2002 I think).

If Brian isn't back I hope it's someone that has a passion for the sport and helps Knoxville Raceway grow.
The past 10 years has been good IMO. From concerts, bikes, monster trucks, Late Models, modefieds, and of course sprints, all have been great events.
I've also appreciate the little things that have improved such as scoreboards, nice clean bleachers, safe fences, being able to use your debit card for good priced concessions, having nice restrooms, ticket deals, safe lighting for the drivers, Knoxville's involvement on social media and streaming videos, and more.
It seems Knoxville has done a really good job of advertising and promoting itself lately and hopefully it's worked out in Knoxville's favor.
Whatever Brian is doing next I wish him good luck. It can't be easy pleasing everyone including the fairboard, the community, the fans, race teams and those who make Knoxville run.
Keep It Real

I doubt that will ever happen. Things didn't end well at the Hall of Fame for him as I recall....
Not sure who is on the short list. but my first call would be to Roger Slack to see what it would cost to get him to come from Eldora. (even though he has a job currently, it's still a call you have to make in my opinion - just like if I was Texas in college football, I'd have called Nick Saban no matter what after I fired / resignation of Mack Brown. Does he have the best job in College FB in Alabama? Yes, but you do everything in your power to bring him to Texas and make it the best job in College FB)

The very first thing the FB should do is grab a big ol bite of humble pie and call the guy that BS F'd over to get the job... They should get down on their knees and profusely apologize to Toby then offer it to him...Bottom line !!! Slack isn't going to leave his deal to come to Knoxville but Tody would take it and rebuild .... The organization has and is a mess be cause one person wanted all the money for himself... Cappy said from day one that somebody would spend the track into bankrupcy and he has headed it in that direction...
