I am amazed how younger drivers act towards car owners these days. Last weekend I witnessed a young driver get out the car he was driving and throw a temper tantrum after each time he came in from the track. I could tell from a distance that the owner was doing jis best not to loose it on the kid , many times over the years ive seen driver's get miffed but action against a owner like that is un called for. A car owner is a rare breed these days and a driver should be greatfull he even has a ride especially when it is a good ride and this particular car is a good team that has won a lot of races . After wondering around a bit I noticed the seat was missing when the car was loaded in the trailer. I applaud the owner for kicking the driver to the curb no owner should tolerate disrespect from a young man in that way. Alot of older drivers would love a chance to race on a weekly basis. In my opinion that is a huge reason the sport has its struggles.

It's like anything else really. I hope many of the other owners took notice of this as well. I hope the young driver learned something from that experience. Maybe he will find another ride someday and know to hold his tongue when things aren't going 100% the way you hope/expect. Learn how to gracefully work through issues vs blowing your top.

I would not be surprised this was a ex go kart driver. There has been a Go Kart program on cable TV this year. All the kids do is whine after every race and claim this driver was a wreckless driver or a cheater and this went on after every race. I do not know why any parent would want to go thru that, but some of the parents are as bad as the kids.

Putting a kid into a race car doesn't turn them into an adult.

Everyone forget what its like to be young? You either learn and grow up or you don't- Just like every other generation in this country has done for the last 200+ years. What does today's youth got to do with it? I know just as many disrespectful, worthless, lazy folks my father's age as there are my age. My kids and their friends? They act just like my friends and I acted when we were their age--maybe even better behaved.
I promise you there were plenty of whiny, disrespectful racers 30 years ago. The constant comment "today's young kids this and today's young kids that" is one of my pet peeves. Remember--when you were young, your dumbass drove your grandfather nuts too! No matter how old you are now!

Well you explained the whole problem in your reply, you know plenty of old disrespectful, worthless, lazy folks my fathers age.
Obviously they never grew up either & are in this situation because they never grew up...
If someone gives u a chance to live your dream you don't act like an idiot towards them, you try to help fix the problem with the car. Maybe it isn't the car at all but just an ungrateful pilot who should step aside until they grow up!!!
End of story..

A wise man once told never to assume anything, 9 times out of 10 it will make you look foolish.
How do you know the kid was fired. Maybe after the "temper tantrum" you witnessed a few minutes later he unbolted his seat and quit.
Maybe the kid keeps telling the owner what he needs in the car to get around the track and the owner / crew chief can't get it comfortable for him. Remember, they hired him for a reason. They saw something in him that they wanted him in their car over the other " older drivers ( my personal favorite saying " who paid their dues " ) for a reason.

Not defending disrespectful people of any age. Just saying it happens in all generations-all I'm trying to say. If the little bastard got fired for being disrespectful, then he deserved it! That wasn't my point. Point is-it has been happening since the beginning of time.

Would a young Sprint Car driver getting angry with their car owner be considered a domestic dispute seeing as most owners typically double as their parents? I'm thankful that my racing roots go back to the days when working people with a mechanical knack would cobble together the old dirt Supermodifieds. A bunch of friends would work on the car, the most adventerous would get tapped to be the driver and they'd go out and have fun. Today it seems to me that a large portion of the owners are parents who have a Sprint Car parts ap on their smart phone and a credit card that hasn't maxed out.

There is a list of car owners that no young driver would talk back to, at least not without regretting it. Top of that list.......... Jack Yeley

The driver this post was about was fired. I know the owners of the car and they wanted to part with the disrespectful little ass a few weeks prior however the mechanic thought he could bring the mid twenties driver around. Well that didn't happen . The young punk got what he deserved .

I have no idea as to what actually happened, of course, but there are a couple things that could cause these types of team problems. I think the newer owners (who of course provide a large amount of money) and the young drivers (who usually bring family money with them) are all together different than previous generations in this respect. They often times think they can just buy what they need to be fast and win. It still doesn't work like that. It still takes know how, and experience. If you look at any team anywhere that is successful, you'll find both of those components. So, maybe new owners and young drivers both just have to high of expectations because they have the money to race.

Amazingly the Heffner 27 was started for the driver Ryan Smith to start his career and went on to hire big experience drivers. The Clemons 51 was also started for a young driver Mike Carber and went on to hire Freddy Probably many more started like this and got the bug and went big

51 more like they didn't want to work to earn it; they opened their wallets and paid for it. Buy it; don't earn it! Michael Carber had the makings of a very good driver. Saw lots of potential there.

Maybe in this case it was a young driver but I've seen older veteran drivers totally disrespect their car owners too.
