Anybody been by the track today? Curious how everything is looking down there after the week of rain we had.

Lack of a rain date sure has me scratching my head. Must not want to run a midweek show even though they've done it before and had a jam packed house. July 8th/9th look like perfect dates too. Guess it makes too much sense.

July 8th is Lakeside's rain date from their June 6th rainout.

Correct, and the Outlaws go from Dodge City, Kan. on July 4th weekend to Cedar Lake, Wis. on July 11th.
Seems SLS is typically willing to reschedule as they were the promoters for I-96 (rained out May 30, rescheduled June 24) and Lakeside (rained out June 6, reschedule July 1), so maybe 34 doesn't want to reschedule. Seems silly not having a contingency plan.

Really? When did they change it? The originally announced raindate was July 8. I just looked at dirtfan.com and they now have both the 1st and 8th listed. Guess they forgot to remove the 8th after the change.

Seems like perfect circumstances to reschedule , days off and going in that direction to Wisconsin . I'd just like to know who's decision it was to not reschedule. I was already questioning how much I spend every time I see them3 xs already this yr, woulda been 4th. i can really understand people being pissed if they only get to see them this one time.

It's tough... because I'm sure the track wants to have the race... but wants to make $$$ too. Re-scheduling to any other time but a Friday night likely cuts into that profit. I could see them having it on Fri, July 10th between Dodge City & Cedar Lake... but that's a pretty long tow from 34 to Cedar Lake (375 miles). I'd go on the 10th..

I'm sure Amy and SLS would like support from the NSL cars so the 10th wouldn't be an option as they are at Park Jefferson.
If this post isn't results, stories or something c
constructive, it isn't me!

I agree but I'd guess the deal is that SLS leases the track from the Laues to hold the race.
Regardless, there's sunk costs already - no way of even attempting to get those back without a raindate. Like I said, WoO has packed 34 on a weeknight before, no reason why it wouldn't again.

Bill W - don't have the NSL schedule memorized, my bad - you're prob right
SprintFan16 - I've been to all 4 WoO races at 34. The first one in '08 (Wed night) was packed to the gills, no doubt aided by the fact that it was the first WoO sanctioned race at the track. It had rained the night before / morning of though, and the racing wasn't great (track too fast, very hard to pass anybody). The race in '09 was also on a Wed night, and I think was the best of the 4 races they've had there... amazing battle between Saldana & Schatz in thick lapped traffic. The crowd was not great though... not near what it was the year before. Subsequently (??), the WoO didn't come back until '13 -- and it was a Friday night show. Last year's show was a Friday night as well. I don't have all the answers... but am thinking if they're going to race there, it has to be on a Fri night when the NSL and whoever else are available to support the show. Hopefully they're on the schedule next year and the weather cooperates!

What was the crowd like at I-96? I would think if it were a bit soft, it might may promoters less likely to use midweek dates for rain dates. I think midweek shows planned in advance can obviously be huge winners, but sometimes it might be best to wait a year rather than lose your shirt on a risky proposition.
