What are your thoughts about a guy running a 360 against 305s for the weeks? Wrecking other drivers cars. Affecting points outcomes. And taking home purse money he didn't legally win. What should happen to a team like that? I'm curious what the racing world thinks.

He needs to be banned from the track for the year, and fined 50% of the money that he "won". That money should be put into the driver's point fund.  DO NOT allow him back until he pays that money back, even if it is in July of the next season.

Well since the track owner is also the flag man and the tech man,  he should have a talk with his son as soon as he gets back from law school this week.

I understand a motor pumping 317 cause a guy changed a head gasket or a set of heads. But 362 that is not right, they made everyone else their look like fools. when a person does it on purpose that is just cheating. Banned for the year, remember this is for $525.00. I wasn't there but that is cheating just not right.

Forget the term  "cheating"  and replace it with "stealing".  Basically when someone is deliberately trying to break the rules to gain an advantage,  they are actually stealing from the other competitors..

Being called a thief has a far worse connotations than a cheater.

In racing the entire "it's not cheating unless you get caught"  needs to go away.. Replace it with common decency and integrity.

No one wants to be called a thief.

I have no idea what you're referring to but, I would only blame the track.  Tech isn't that difficult.

Would somebody please share some more details about this? Is this a hypothetical or did a 305 really get pumped at 362 somewhere this weekend? Most 305 rules allow something like 318 CI to account for a motor being bored 30-40 over, but to make a 305 pump 360 ish can only mean it was a 350.... a 383 stroker crank in a 305 gives you something like 331 CI....and a 030 overbore on that still isn't going to get you anywhere close to 362.

So please, somebody that knows, please post some more details about this..... I don't care if you name names or not... if you don't want to point out a particular track just a general region please... was this at a Racesaver/IMCA type track or somewhere that runs the K-Ville/Midwest 305 rules or one of the one off 305 classes somewhere?

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Believe he's referring to Chase Wanner at 34 Raceway Saturday night. Gotta be curious if this motor has ran at other places. I know he's ran in the 305 class at Knoxville, however the one night he ran he got spanked.

I also know that they ran Independence with the Sprint Invaders Friday night. Not sure if he would have had a 360 in that they forgot to change out for Saturday?

Pulled from the 34 raceway site.

Chase Wanner, Agency, took the checkered flag in the final feature of the night but
would later be disqualification in post race tech when his motor didn’t pump the
correct size. His DQ gave the win to second place finisher Daniel Bergquist. Daniel
Justin Newberry, Sahen Quam and John Schulz would round out the top five in another
nice field of cars the went non stop for twenty laps.

Bet that was interesting because the Tech guy used to help Wanner back in the day in late models.

Haven't you seen the guy fall out of the lead at the end of the race and felt bad for him? If you  only tech the winner or top 3 everyone else gets to cheat. Tech ing only the winner is retarded and the only thing RETARDEDER is winning with a cheater engine.

Brettco, how do you suggest they tech and how to tech? Pick the last 3 finishers, that would make a lot of sense. Tech everybody that ran the feature, They would still be there teching on Sunday.

Makes more sense to me to take the top 3 or 5 and tech them. If everybody out of the top 5 gets to cheat as you put it then they need to rethink what they are doing because its not working.

Next time you are at 34 walk on down and tell the tech guys your ideas. Better yet volunteer to help.

Also just a guess here but I bet the kid driving was clueless on what motor was in the car and dad didn't give him a heads up that they were illegal.

I would love to believe the driver didn't know but I'm just not sure since they blew up their 305 at like the first event of the year. I personally believe after thinking about it and observing the way the motor ran all season that that 305 class has been competing against a 360 for most of the season. It's just their poor performance on slick tracks that kept this from happening before now.

This hopefully is not a Racesaver class . They are supposed to be sealed .

Well he was caught and DQ'd so the track apparently does tech and did the right thing. End of story I'd say. Even though this is quite an obvious violation of the rules, you generally don't see tracks or sanctions at any level banning anyone for the whole season for a first time offender.

No not a sealed motor class. I personally beleive that this team should pay a fine and recieve a ban for a few weeks. And upon their return they should be teched.

Camfab, do you race against him? If so voice your concerns to the officials if you feel so strongly about it. Thing is nobody can prove they had the 360 in since week 2 of the season.

Not sure the ban hammer is the best option either and could be a good way to lose a car/driver. They might just start running somewhere else and never come back. If all they have is the 360 motor and don't have the cash for a 305 they will probably race at K'ville anyway.

They got caught and dq'd, probably got no points and last place money for the night. I agree that they should get pumped when they come back to verify they are actually changed the motor.
