I heard the other night that USAC is doing away with the current tire and going to a Harder 16" Tire from current 18" Tire that was just changed 2 years ago? I also heard that they are going to do away with cockpit adjustable shocks?  Can anybody tell me if there is any truth to this? I sent USAC an E-Mail but never heard back. If it is true it will be just peachy as everybody has been sending equipment off and repairing things in the offseason that they just wasted there money on that they won't be able to use. Thanks

Try this link, looks like the National USAC series is having rumor too about a change

Rule changes that attempt to save money always end up costing the teams $

(Adjustable shocks, I thought when I was at Tulare, WOO does not even allow them.  Seems like an unnecesary cost for all teams, but sure would of been nice to now before teams rebuilt their inventory for possible obsolete hardware)

i think usac-cra will be using the tire that westcoast 360s have been using , the hoosier medium . yes it is 16 in wide .

i would like to see cockpit adjustable shocks go away . not everyone sees this the way i do .

Mel at Circle Track received confirmation today that USAC/CRA will be switching to the Hoosier 105 - Medium tire that the West Coast 360's have been running. You will have the first 3 races of the season to use up your HTW tires.

my understanding is that by USAC switching to the Hoosier 105-16 just about every non-wing sprint car in the country (including Ventura) is running the same tire.....seems like that would be a good thing....

that would be a good thing for the long term, even though some teams might loose some of their inventory of tires.

Roy, I haven't heard specifics for those sanctions. I probably should have confined my remarks to the Western United States and USAC National races. I was mainly impressed that after years of complaining by open wheel grassroot car owners, many sanctioning bodies including the notorius VRA are trying to standardize the main expendable in racing which is tires. That's a great improvement for the low buck driver.

it was only a few years ago it took 3 tires to run vra , wc 360s and usac-cra . its really nice to be able to do this with 1 tire . i hope the seniors at ventura will be able to use the hoosier med as well this season . hopefully venturas stock of old , hard vra tires is gone !

got verification from K.M. that there should be no other rule changes for usac-cra and the htw/ht2 tire can be used in the first 3 usac-cra races as stated by jac15 .

Perhaps the seniors and young guns can use up the local inventory of the HTW tires.
