I am trying to decide what is a better tire/wheel combo to run. I have the following tire choice on the RR of my 305 sprint car:
- 18" Hoosier - Hard compound
- 16" Hoosier - Medium compound
I have been running the 18" hard tire with limited success, but it seems I am the only one. Nearly everyone else is running the 16" medium tire. If I switch to the 16" tire, I have to get new RR wheels, as all my RR wheels are 18" wide. So thats something to consider....
Thoughts????

Most guys I know run a 17 inch wide rim with a 16 inch tire. Rims cost alot of money, can you just bolt a new rim half on to make 17 inch?

You won't have to buy new wheels, but you will lose some rollout running a 16" tire on an 18" wheel.
