I know this isn't sprint car related but how many dirt guys have a truck ride for this race? The names I've heard are Blaney, Larson, Abreu & Haud. Anyone know?

Scoot Bloomquist will be in a Kyle Bush motorsports truck and Dave Blaney will be driving a Brad Kesoloski truck. Other than Traci Hines driving for somebody else I have not heard of any others.

I don't know who all will be racing other than Blaney, Larson & Bloomquest but I'll be locked into Speed the 23rd for practice and the 24th for the Heat races and Main. I hope a sprint car driver wins it.
It's going to be entertaining watching the truck series guys try to run the truck on dirt. I hear it will be dry slick so should be a lot of yellows.

Only problem with that is they will decide the trucks don't work on dirt and they won't come back...hardcore dirt fans will love watching the pavement guys struggle on a real race track, but if the ratings aren't what NASCAR needs them to be because people are tired of seeing spins and turn it off that will be the end of trucks on dirt.

Don't be surprised if you see the NATIONWIDE on the dirt next year or the year after.

Let's put the trucks or Nationwide cars on Springfield, DuQuoin, and Indy miles. That could prove interesting. If I recall correctly, USAC and ARCA ran stock cars on the miles.

Agree. I say Nationwide by 2014 or 2015 and with Sprint Cup a possibility after that. I think they will work the bugs out with the trucks first. I think it will be a success. Time will tell.

Can't point to the source a while back (maybe Jayski), but someone predicted if this is a success, maybe the dirt will get put back on Bristol for the Cup guys. That's the only place that could hold the amount of people NASCAR would want.

I honestly think just the heat/qualifying races and then the main is going to make it pretty cool... let alone the dirt. Ive always thought something like that for the ALLSTAR race would be pretty cool. Qualifying races (15 laps or so) a last chance race (20-25 laps) and the A main, something the fans can relate to, and a little more out of the drivers element. Do it at Bristol and you'd pack the place again. IMO

fro what I read, all the top points trucks are locked in regardless of how the TT or finish in the heats...maybe these rules are changing as they go since this is a first time experiment?

Knoxville desparately needs to make a push for an event like this. It's probably the best dirt track in the country to host a NASCAR event. Best facilities, huge sweeping fast track, 1/2 mile+. Can seat a huge crowd, tons of suites, and has a smooth as glass surface that would be perfect for NASCAR. Also has plenty of room to setup a real NASCAR type pit road so they could run a traditional 200 to 300 mile event with green flag stops.

Agree with a couple of you--Bristol covered in dirt again and Knoxville stick out as potential sights for upcoming events.
To follow up on AINT NO FOOL's post--I think all short track racing in Nascar should be done:
1. at night
2. 1 Qualifying lap--with points awarded for qualifying to avoid sandbagging
3. inverted 10-12 car heats--20-30 laps each--passing points and finishing points awarded--mains set by qualifying and heat race points with only the top 2 in each heat guaranteed a starting spot in the A-main.
4. B-main--75 laps--top 4 or 6 to main event
5. A-main--100 laps
Would you at least tune in to this on Saturday night to see if it was a little more exciting? Your a liar if you say no.
