www.sacbee.com/2013/03/16/5269166/crash-at-marysville-race-track.html FUCK YOU Sacramento Bee and your piece of shit newspaper; requesting anyone with photos of the scene to email them. SHOW SOME FUCKING RESPECT! Another shit rag newspaper that never has any interest in sprint car racing unless there is a tragedy. SCUM OF THE EARTH.

Yes, they do. And I, for one, hope they always will be around. All this twitter shit is exactly that. People anymore need to know the results before a race is even finished. If you need to know that damn bad, go to the races. Trasker, you are correct, that is just downright tacky....................

There is a saying that applies to both newspapers and TV news these days:

"If it bleeds, it leads". Unfortunate, but true.

I live in Toledo, Ohio and it was covered on the local news this morning...they never ever cover action from Fremont or Attica by the way.

I agree that the announcer was out of line with the tweeting. Beyond that I really don't see what anyone's problem is. Do we expect that a track can have a double fatality and the media won't cover it? I think I'd have to put that one in the "well duh" category. The exact same thing happened at Devils Bowl many years ago. I doubt the media has been back at the Bowl since that pit fatality happened either. Generally any time two people die it's going to be on the news regardless of where it happened.

Dryslick, You are missing my point completely. I never once said do not cover it. I have A PROBLEM WITH HOW THEY COVER IT. Less than AN HOUR HAD PASSED, and the newspaper WAS REQUESTING PHOTOS FROM FANS OF THE SCENE. That is what I have a problem with. Am I going to boycott FOX or HEADLINE News, who both carried the news? NO, I AM NOT. But then, they did not request crash scene photos either. By the way, I was at Devils Bowl that night you mentioned. I was headed to outside turn three where the incident occurred when a friend, returning from the crash scene warned "I wouldn't go over there if I were you" and I stopped, heeding his warning.

The news people were for the most part respectful and with the help of security kept away from the pits and left the grieving raceing brotherhood alone. they stayed in the parking lot and did their jobs. for the record, steven blakesley is not our announcer and was just another dude with an Iphone. I hope that the national media just misquoted him. Its been a tough 12 months for our northern california racing family....paul
