Kevin Swindell to Race for Biagi-DenBeste Racing Three-time Chili Bowl Champ to compete for NASCAR Nationwide Series team
Mooresville, N.C. (October 24, 2012) – Former sprint car standout Kevin Swindell will race for NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) team Biagi-DenBeste Racing at Texas Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway next month.
Swindell has previously competed in four NNS races, with a best start of fifth at Dover International Speedway in 2011. This season, Swindell has made eight starts in the ARCA Racing Series, securing seven top-five starts along with four top-five finishes. The young driver scored his first stock car win at Chicagoland Speedway in July after earning the pole and leading every lap.
After taking a hiatus from racing, Biagi-DenBeste Racing has returned to the NNS to compete in five races this season. The team earned a best starting spot of 11th at Atlanta Motor Speedway and a season-best finish of 12th earlier this month at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of a Nationwide car," commented Swindell. "The Biagi-DenBeste Racing team has done really well and had strong finishes in each race they have entered. I am excited to team up with them for Texas and Homestead."
"We are really pleased to have Kevin in the car," said team co-owner Fred Biagi. "Right now we are only interested in running races that we can do right and this will be a great baseline for 2013. We know Kevin can get it done. With his talent and the Swindell storied history in racing, we are expecting great things out of him."
Swindell will first take to the track for Biagi-DenBeste Racing at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, November 2 for practice. Live coverage of Saturday night's O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge will begin at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN. The race can also be heard on PRN.

You can find out more about Biagi Bros at www.BiagiBros.com.
About DanBeste Transportation
Bill and Lori DenBeste founded DenBeste Transportation in 1989. A leader in hazardous waste management, DenBeste has worked on many high profile jobs including playing a major role in the clean-up of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010. Yes. It's simple, running sprint cars on dirt for 40 years have turned Sammy & Amy into billionaire$.

I wouldn't expect too much from him. I mean...after all...he's never won a feature at the "Port" or the "Grove!"

and furthermore WHY would he want to win a race at either one?
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

I thought it was a pre-requesit that you had to win at the Grove and the Port, plus your family had to be rich to land a Nascar ride? Sarcasim here.

you don't get rides in NNS with talent, you get them with the money you bring. sad but true.

Anybody who doesn't think it's true needs to look no further than Danica.

It is sad but at least Kevin has some pretty big wins to his resume..unlike Danica. Seems like all the dirt trackers who make it to NASCAR have pretty good resumes.

You just named the most extreme case there is, what Danica brings with her is a large sponsor who follows her through thick and thin for whatever reason. Thats why Danica can always get on a team cause GoDaddy sticks with her. But you can't say that every single person that breaks into nationwide is buying there way in.
I would say if anything Kevin brings 2 things to the table, Name recognition and talent. The name recognition is a big one cause this team will likely be looking for sponsorship and it is a plus to sell to future sponsors Kevins family and personal background and accomplishments. Kevin is obviously not buying rides because someone who's buying them stays in them cause those people or their family or their backing sponsor just keeps pumping money into the team regardless of results(ie: Danica), if he does well he will stick around but if he doesn't do what they expect he will be looking again. If they were able to buy him a ride he would have been in 1 for quite awhile now.

I think Kevin has the potential to be the next Kyle Busch, given his demeanor and personality, which he came by quite honestly.

"With his talent and the SWINDELL storied history in racing, we are expecting great things out of him."
marginal talent at best, the ONLY reason he got this ride..........

I would say that would be a similar example to Danica, except I think Paul Menard makes less headlines and does better.

" marginal talent at best"
And you're a professional at rating the racing talent level of individuals? How long have you held such an esteemed position?
While I am not a fan of the "Racing Swindell family" I think I have somewhat of an eye for talent and you badly missed on this one!

I think GoDaddy sticks with the marginally talented Patrick for the same reason GoDaddy is even relevant to begin with. Her fluke finish at the Indy 500 (only made possible by the lame "accident" she created) and revealing Super Bowl commercials that had millions of poor saps getting on GoDaddy's website to see what happened next
In any case, don't see why announcements like this are so tumultuous. He's a great driver and congrats to him for earning his way into this opportunity. It's not like he is not deserving. Whether others are more deserving.....hell who cares. He earned it, he's got a shot - and I hope that The Bulldog can put together some good runs and do some good at bucking the "sad but true" trend.
Above all else we should be rooting these guys on. Not really a Nascar fan, but nonetheless I always hope the dirt track guys do good. It'll be the same with guys like Swindell and Larson. Although in a perfect world we wouldn't be losing these talents to pavement - the pavement guys would come get regular thrashings on dirt
