Proper track prep takes care of traction control and Sammy has a great sense of humor that few find.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Sammy himself usually can't find his sense of humor, how do you expect others to find it for him?
BS on proper track prep taking care of traction control. Many of the worst races I've ever seen were done on wide open fast and narrow race tracks.

Dumb newbie question: What is traction control, anyway?

I am not quite sure why this is some sort of surprise or outrage. I didn't hear the interview, so I can't really say if he was joking or serious. But do you guys really think that Outlaw teams aren't running TC? What is going to happen if Sammy was serious? The Outlaws would find his TC unit and make him immediately stop using it? Sheeeeyeah. Not in this lifetime or 100 other lifetimes.

It is a system designed to reduce/eliminate wheel spin on slippery tracks. Traction control is illegal in nearly all dirt track series and speedways, but it is out there. The premise of traction control is that the reduced wheel spin allows a driver to get all of his car's horsepower down to the track without spinning the car's wheels and losing speed.

I don't know what type of systems they are running, but I think you are being hugely naive if you don't think guys are running it in the biggest money series in dirt track racing. So you don't think there is anyone on the Outlaws running traction control? FWIW, there are lot of locals racers across the country using it as well, IMO. Companies like Davis Technologies don't seem to be going out of business.

where are the teams that are running TC hiding it?
and i never said anything about guys running or not running it.
i just asked, since you seem to know so much, what they were running and where they were hiding it.
you seem to be the one that is naive if you don't think the woo knows as much about TC as the teams do.
heck even you know about davis.

I don't have any problem saying that I don't know. That is why I am not in charge of tech with the Outlaws or at Knoxville or Williams Grove. I suspect you are just looking to be argumentative here, but the premise being floated here is that no one anywhere is running traction control, but the companies producing the units continue to make a product that no one uses because no one would ever buy a traction control unit?
How does a company like Davis Technologies stay in business, since, you know, no one is buying the product and no one is using it?

i never said no one was buying it or that no one was using it.
i only asked if you knew how they were getting it past tech.
so if so many people are using it, how are they getting it past tech? it is a simple question.
you seem to know so much, so tell me.
you are accusing teams of running TC. yet you can't tell me what kind, where it is or so far how they are getting away with it. so far you have only given a broad statement that you haven't been able to detail.
do you know if the woo is even checking for TC? if they are, do you know how they check?
to indy and beyond!!

Your right speedracer14 he started calling his Super Shox traction control when he won at Volusia in 2011.

Any of you geniuses think that if Sammy actually was running it that he would announce it? Geez, either grow a sense of humor or a brain and please use one or the other!

Singlefile,
Does WOO have anyone who is in charge of tech?? I've never heard of WOO tearing down and engine or mag, have you? Other than simple visual checks, I think the WOO (and all sprint car racing) rely on competitors to be "honorable & honest".

Dryslick Willie, thank you! I was starting to give up hope that anyone had common sense on here! Like if he was using it he's going to tell everyone. He is talking about his shocks. Also there are alot of series especially pavement series that allow TC so that's why Davis Technologies is still in business, just maybe?

As everyone knows, I am the president of the local AnyOneButSammy fan club. However, I think that everyone is getting a little too excited about his comments.
Also, I never have understood how TC is supposed to work on a sprint car. It seems that for a sprint car they need are always too sideways for TC to help. Seems like TC would hurt you when you pulled a slider, or when you needed to drive off of the right rear against the cushion or the wall.
