Thunderbird Speedway Set to Host Comp Cams Super Late Models!

2nd Annual Comp Cams Shootout May 11th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – May 1, 2012 - The famed half mile oval at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma is gearing up for their second huge late model special for the 2012 race season, this being the second annual "Comp Cams Super Late Model Shootout" that will be held on Friday night, May 11.

It will be the first of a two race swing for the CCSDS as the tour will then head to Crawford County Speedway in Van Buren, Arkansas on Saturday night.

Billy Moyer, Jr. of Batesville, Arkansas found victory lane with just five laps to go in last year's inaugural event when leaders Kelly Boen and Dane Dacus made contact entering turn one when battling for the lead, ending both drivers night.

Just a few of the drivers expected to compete include early season points leader Robert Baker, Jon Mitchell, Brandon Smith, Johnny Virden, Kyle Beard, Larry Campbell and others. Track regulars expected to compete include Dillion Rupe, Brandon Mitchell, Chris Reese and Kyle Slader. Between twenty-five and thirty cars are expected.

Also competing will be the tracks weekly divisions of IMCA sanctioned southern sport mods, 360 modifieds, grand nationals and street stocks.

There are two host hotels for the track with both offering racers rates. They are:

Super 8 Motel - $55 for single, $60 for double

Motel 6 and Fairfield Inn also offer racers rates:

Camping at the track is free with no hookups, $15 per day in fairgrounds per day with hookups.

Gates open at 5:00 pm with hot laps beginning at 7:00 pm. Race time is 7:30 pm.
