NCRA Southern Sport Modified Finale This Saturday Night at 81 Speedway!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – October 4, 2012 - Only one division sanctioned by the Bob Howard P.D.C. and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley's Racing Products has yet to crown a series champion for 2011. Well, that will all change this coming Saturday night as last, but definitely not least, the ever popular southern sport modified division will take to the home track of the series, 81 Speedway in Park City.

It will be the eleventh and final event on the tour with inaugural series champion Chad McNamara of Blackwell, Oklahoma looking to hold off defending series champion Todd Decker of Edmond, Oklahoma and series leading rookie contender Brandon Smith of Amarillo, Texas for his second title in three years.

Only twenty-five points separate McNamara from Decker and thirty points ahead of Smith as the tour makes its fourth and final appearance of the season at the speedway. Smith, his first full season with the series, has picked up two feature victories at promoter C Ray Hall's facility while southern sport modified career feature winner Travis Johnson (Enid) has the other. Johnson is still mathematically not out of the chase for the championship as he sits 125 points out of the lead.

This year series championship for the southern sport mods is worth $2000 for the champion.

It has been yet another competition year for the tour with eight different drivers having reached victory lane thus far in 2011. They include the afore mentioned Smith (2), Johnson (2), Randy Timms, Levi McGowen, Robert Elliott, Kelly Cross, McNamara and rookie contender Kinzer Edwards.

Other drivers expected to make the trip for the final event of the season include Oklahoma drivers in the top ten of the point standings Ross McCartney of Lahoma, Landon Maddox (Fairview) and Triple B Oil Field Services of Elk City, Oklahoma rookie contenders J.D. Choate (Ponca City), Zachery Tippett (Newalla), Bobby McGehee (Drummond) and Devin Gerrior (Owasso).

It will be a special admission night to the grandstands at 81 Speedway with a "buy one get one free" promotion at the track. General admission prices are just $9.

Pit gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing set for 7:00 PM. It will be Bill Hall Memorial Vintage weekend with a vintage meet being held at the speedway. The growing mod-lite division will be competing as well.

81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then .7 mile west on 77th St. in Park City. For more race and ticket information contact the 81 Speedway office (316) 755-1781.
