NCRA Modified Finale a Two Day Event/New Qualifying Format!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – September 27, 2011 - Officials with the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley's Racing Products announced Tuesday afternoon that this weekend's scheduled modified season finale will now be a two day show, beginning with qualifications on Friday night and last chance championship features Saturday night. The series sprint car division will still compete on Saturday night only.

This two day event, as part of the tracks annual "Wix Filers/Bumper to Bumper Fall Classic" will crown the series modified and sprint car championship on Saturday night and close out the 2011 race season for both divisions.

Below is the current itinerary for this weekend's event:

Friday night: Grandstands open at 5:30 PM with races starting at 7:30 PM with qualifying taking place for the NCRA modified division.

Qualifying format and point system - Each car will compete in two (2) heat races. Drivers will draw for starting positions in the first set of heat races. Each driver will accumulate points in accordance with his finish in the heat race. (Example: If you finish third you have three points, second you have two points, fifth you have five points, etc.). The second heat race will lineup inverted from your original lineup in the first set of heat races. (Example: If you started your first heat race on the pole, you will start your second heat race in last place). After the two heat races, the top twenty drivers with the fewest points totaled from the two heat races will run a qualifying feature with the driver accumulating the fewest points from the two heat races starting on the pole, etc. Your finishing spot in the qualifying feature will then be added to your point total from the two heat races with the driver accumulating the fewest amount of points in all three races starting on the pole for Saturday night's Championship feature finale, etc. (Example: If you finish second in your first heat race, third in your second heat race and second in the qualifying feature, your total point accumulation is seven). The top twelve with the lowest points will be qualified for rows one through six in Saturday night's championship feature. Cars not qualified for the Championship feature will compete in "last chance" races on Saturday night to determine rows seven through ten of the Championship event and will be lined up in accordance of the fewest points accumulated from the two heat races.

Saturday night: Grandstands open at 5:30 PM with races again starting at 7:30 PM with a full program of NCRA sprint car heats, last chance features and Championship feature finale as well as last chance and Championship feature for the NCRA modified division.
