NCRA Southern Sport Modified Division Brings Title Chase to 81 Speedway This Saturday Night!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – August 15, 2011 - It is getting good at the top.

With two scheduled events left on the 2011 schedule for the Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley's Racing Products southern sport modified division, a scant 45 points separate the top four in the series point standings. One of those drivers could take a step closer to the championship this coming Saturday night as the tour makes their third appearance of the season at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Chad McNamara of Pond Creek, Oklahoma currently sits atop the point standings and is one of the eight different drivers to have reached victory lane. The inaugural series champion from 2009 don't have much room to breathe as defending champion Todd Decker of Edmond, Oklahoma sits just five points behind.

Triple B Oil Field Services of Elk City, Oklahoma rookie of the year leader Brandon Smith of Amarillo, Texas is just forty points out of the lead and picked up the tours season opener at 81 Speedway back in April.

Travis Johnson of Enid, Oklahoma also has a shot at the series championship as he sits 45 points out of the lead. Johnson leads the tour in career victories with six and is the only repeat winner this year with two.

The 2011 series champion will pick up $2000 for their efforts as the season ending banquet in January.

Ross McCartney of Lahoma, Oklahoma is having a strong season and is currently fifth in the point standings.

Triple B Oil Field Services rookie contender Kinzer Edwards of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma picked up his first career series victory in the last event that was held, this coming at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Oklahoma. Edwards sits sixth in the point standings despite missing one event due to tow rig problems back earlier in the season.

Another rookie of the year contender, J.D. Choate of Ponca City, Oklahoma sits seventh in the point standings while Landon Maddox of Fairview is eighth.

Three more rookie contenders dot positions nine through eleventh in the point standings. They include Oklahoma drivers Bobby McGehee (Drummond), Zachery Tippett (Newalla) and Devin Gerrior (Owasso).

As mentioned, eight different drivers have reached victory lane out of the nine events that have been completed. They include the afore mentioned Smith (81 Speedway), Randy Timms (Thunderbird Speedway), Johnson (Crawford County, 81 Speedway), Robert Elliott (Beaver County Raceway), Kelly Cross (Route 66 Motor Speedway), McNamara (Kansas State Fairgrounds) and Edwards (Salina Highbanks).

Jeff Autry, Johnson and Smith have all reached victory lane in previous appearances at the Speedway.

Gates open at 5:00 PM with racing set for a 7:00 PM start time. All general admission tickets are just $9 for adults.
