Rough estimate I would say you are looking at around 30 grand. Which breaks down to 400 per race if you figure on around a 20 race schedule. Some teams spend way more than that, and for some that would be high, and of course if you tear up anything that goes way up. Then you have 20k for a roller and a motor, and some spare parts. Right now there is an 08 J&J roller and ASCS motor for 17k in the classifieds section, so 20 at least is a reasonable number. Then an extra 2k for extra expenses, which once again goes way up if you start tearing up stuff.

good estimate, I too figured $400-$500 nightly - just to step into the pitgate, I added it up once for a potential sponsor and scared them away, truth be known, fuel, pitgate, (most crews need at least two guys),wear n tear on mill, fresh Rubber is a biggy! , and hopefully you dont tear anything up , traveling will increase your $$ quite big, obviously , for a average team I think that sounds like a conservative and logical #, hope you have success !! every bit of $$ helps..

The 360 car I worked on a few years back was a front runner on the local level and with the regional guys. We towed about 8 miles to the track and the owner said it was a $500 bill to pull into the pits. This covered pit passes for 3, fuel for the truck and car, a RR tire and what not. When you figure in valve springs half way through the year and a refresh at the end of the season....Well, you get the picture.
