Bud Purkey Memorial at Mid America Speedway Postponed One Week

Buckner, MO (March 19th, 2010) - The Season Opening Bud Purkey Memorial scheduled for Friday and Saturday March 19th-20th has been postponed due to deteriorating weather conditions and forecasted rain and snow both days. "We really wanted to get the race in this weekend," stated Race Promoter Al Purkey, "but the weather just isn't cooperating. The forecast looks much better for next weekend so it should be a great show." The complete show will run next weekend March 26th-27th minus the Thursday practice session.

"Unfortunately, you can't control the weather," stated MLRA Promoter Harriett Chancellor. "This is shaping up to be a huge show based on the drivers here for practice last night." Chancellor was referring to names in the pits such as Billy Moyer, Wendall Wallace, John Anderson, Al Purkey, Terry Phillips, and Jack Sullivan just to name a few.

The action on Friday night March 26th gets underway at 7:30pm with Heat Races and Pole Dashes on the schedule. Adult Grandstand Admission is $12 on Friday with Juniors 7-15 just $5. Race fans 6 and under are FREE.

Saturday's action on March 27th starts at 6:00pm. Adult Admission on Saturday is set at $20 while Juniors 7-15 are once again just $5 with kids 6 and under FREE. Pit Passes for both Friday and Saturday nights are $30. The Official Hotel of the event is the Sleep Inn and Suites of South Coffeyville, KS. Please call (620) 688-6400 for reservations. Thinking about going to this race. Never been that way before, and I really enjoy watching late models. Its just a long drive though 5 1/2 hours. Should be fun though with a lot of big names there. Hope everyone has a great 10 season. LETS GO RACIN!!

I will go out on a limb and say that Moyer will be at Kilgore with the WoO late models on Saturday night. They will be in Houston on Friday night. I really want to go to Kilgore bad and probably will but would like to go support Al Purkey and his tribute race to his father, Bud.

You should have a good time at Coffeyville, JMEREJ, even if it is on the other side of the state of Kansas.

That sounds like a good idea to me. Do call me at 620-515-5201. Thanks, Al. We are not sure yet who will be making the trip back this weekend, but I am sure we will have most of the people who were here last Thursday. We will could loose Moyer, but then we had a great field besides him so I believe we will still have a great show!
