Thought someone may get a kick out of looking at the Facebook site that was made by the late Don Maxwell's daughter, that has several pictures of Don's craftsmanship in building sprint cars. Very few pictures are captioned,FYI. I'm sure some oldtimers will recognize some of them. Don passed away in 2007. He built some VERY sweet looking sprint cars.

When I was About 7 to 8 years old my Dad was a crew member on Don Maxwells modified ( sprint cars ) that ran @ Speedway Park in Albuquerque NM. He raced with Buddy Taylor ( The Original Wild Child ), John Caples, Ernie Bounton, Hank Arnold and many others from that era. And what GREAT racing it was, I'm going to try to contribute as many photos and clips from the programs to Tammy's site as I can. Don is one of my Heroes's as is my Dad. He is dearly missed. RIP.

It was probably 1968 or 69 that I first saw a car that he had built. The car was the "Bunny Bread" sprint in Albuquerque . The thing that I remember most about it was that it was a parallel 4 bar and it was the first with a right side armgaurd built into the bodywork. My question is,was he originally from New Mexico or Nebraska? Either way ,He was a hell of a crafstman and a really nice guy Van May

Keith, when I was about the same age, my brother Terry was also a crew member on Don's sprint car. I think he was sponsored by Aladinn Plating. Great times hanging out at Speedway Park on Friday nights. You and I probably hung out together. What was your Dad's name? Kelly
