Anyone have experience with greasable bird cages? Does this increase the interval for servicing the bird cage bearings?

Winters (and others) sell bird cages with grease fittings. How often do most teams clean and pack their non-grease fitting cages? We broke a right side bird cage in a wreck and bought one off another team and have been running it since. Is there any geometry issues involved in using two different style bird cages?

i personally clean and repack my split race bearing style cage after every night. no geometry issues that i have seen. if they are timed and squared they are just fine.

we've been using the type you are referring to for about four years now. I don't know about increasing the overall life but a quick shot or two of grease each night will force the old dirty grease out. Watch for the excess grease getting on your equipment as it comes out of the hot bearing. The benefit is they don' fall apart when you change a wheel. Good Luck and Have Fun.
