What Lance has displayed in the message above is purely statistical.

Over most of the last ten laps it was more like three cats fighting in a bag with Mike Spenser joining at the end.

He just recently had neck surgery, and was going to try and run but was still too sore...

I'm surprised there aren't more comments about the race on here. What's up with you guy's?

That was a great race, they came at Jone's hard, and often, but he just made the right moves at the right time, and he didn't make any mistakes.

I feel for ya Casey. There are a lot of us who think as you do. That you still have some unfinished business at the Oval Nationals, and you should have been able to get a good ride for the show.. I'll see ya at the Western though.

Jones, Stanbrough, Demon, Hagen and Spencer in the main was some of the sickest driving I've ever seen. Unreal jockeying into, through and coming out of the corners. Nice to see Spencer looking very comfortable with the National boys. Coming from Ventura, I have to trumpet Brent Camarillo and Jimmy Crawford. Hey now! Would like to spout more but it's time to climb back in the truck and do the Riverside haul for night three. If you're on the fence, just go. That track has been purrfect...

I too missed seeing Casey Shuman this year. Got a signed picture of his dad from Steve Howard though!!!

What about that battle between Pombo and Darland for the final transfer spot in the fifth heat race? The main event was fantastic, but that was the highlight of the night for me.

RadRobinlb,

What was your take on the Darland & Pombo incident?

Do you think Darland did something wrong that would warrant Pombo putting him in the Wall?

Just Curious, thats all..

I don't have a take on it either way; I was just trying to get some discussion going. However, I think that incident costs Darland the national championship, and that's too bad. I don't think Pombo took him out though, he was just racing hard.

I just spoke to Mr. Pombo about last nights incident and I asked him if I could quote him on this board. Pombo stated that he was in the lead coming out of turn four, and that Darlend and himself never touched.

That was just some good ol' plain hard racing for the final transfer. I know I about jumped out of my chair while watching it on that last corner! It was awesome stuff. Tonight should be good.

Sure, right..I'll bet he didn't know Darland pushed him out of the way right before that either..LOL

Whats the Difference? Difference in this case was a shot at the National Championship for Darland, and nothing more than a transfer spot for local yocal Pombo. Regardless, it was some awesome racing up front and it's always easier being a arm chair racer, than actually being in the car at the time of a certain incident.. Congrats to all racers who participated in the 2009 Oval Nationals!

I know you meant no harm to Davey Pombo by calling him a "local yocal" - btw, its yokel for the record. One could hardly hang that terminology on young Pombo. He has won his fair share of sprint car main events. He is a third generation driver to his famous grandfather Al Pombo and father Davey Pombo. Al Pombo is a living legend in the Golden State.

Dave Darland is a class act, he did not throw a temper tantrum and act like a little child. He took it like the stand up guy he is, alot of young drivers should aspire to be like this guy.
