From what I've been told you can now "unshrowd" the values on the Brodix spec head. This is nice rule change 2 weeks before the season starts. Instead of the track policing the rules they have, they would rather making it legal and put the racers who were playing by the rules at a disadvantage. I'm sure their response will be don't race here if you don't like it but, that still does not erase the fact that they will not police the rules that require some extra effort on their part. I sure would like to know what spurred this rule change on.

Well, if it ain't ole Mike Honcho!

The fact that most motor builders did it already is what spurred it.

I'm assuming this is for super sprints? Just another reason to go to ASCS rules. It would be great for the fans. As much as I loved the old champ cars they, like the super sprints, were a bastard class. Should have gone to sprint cars 20 years ago and should be running ASCS rules now.

I think that it's for both classes. Both run the same heads, so my guess is that the rules would be the same.

Just got back from the meeting and Tom said you could do anything to the combustion chamber that you want as long as it is above the value. All because 5 or 6 guys have had this done now everyone will have to do it in the near future.

yeah it's a ton of bullshit. All sprint teams should view this as a lesson as to what happens when you play by the rules. I agree with you to an extent Cheese about the engine builders........but this all falls back to Lanny not ever checking anything. That rule book is a waste of paper.

But we all know the fans don't really care. Come March 30th when there is 35 supers and 20 or so champs everybody in the stands will be just peachy. But if Lanny enforced rules and the next week out there was not near that many sprints........people wouldn't be so pleased. They don't care about Lanny enforcing the rules...anymore than Lanny cares about enforcing the rules.

Not that I'm an expert (or any of us for that matter) but if you look at what happened with Lanny and his sprints at Devil's Bowl (rule changes)........it's taken him 5 years or more to get back to a half-decent sprint show. Who's to say the same thing could not happen here.......especially with his "if you don't like it go somewhere else" attitude?

He's changed the rules on us a couple times already. When he brought the new head rule to us he told us that he would not change them for four years, and he didn't. I'm all about the ASCS rules thing, but that would cost a couple thousand per car, and then our heads would be obsolete. To me the bottom line is that we will eventually switch to ASCS and there will be other complaints. After all we're racers, we need something to complain about.

Cheese you would gripe if someone cut your grass for you. Do you think that the prostocks will be allowed to change their heads ? They run the same spec heads.

If you get right down to it..........it was the drivers telling the engine builders they wanted this done last year. They knew Lanny wouldn't kick em out for it. I think this says a lot more about Lanny Edwards and those who were running those heads last season than it does the motor builders. For a guy with such a little man complex I'm suprised he would let those drivers do him like a pimp does a trick.

I know that sounds awful but he did roll right over.

I wonder if he's going to let us Mods run softer tires now since the out of towners did it last year? The bad thing is that alot of the guys I've talked to in the last few weeks really dont seem to be all that excited to start the season because of all the B.S. that goes on out there. Too bad we dont have someone like Lucas (Lucas Oil)to run and own our track. I don't know. Just doesnt seem that fun anymore.

I agree, and like I said in an earlier post cheating is pretty rampant at SFS. All this did was prove my point. However, I do not think that it is the drivers "pimping" Lanny. I think that it all boils down to Lanny and the workers wanting to go home right after the races. I remember when dad was dominating out there how he would get teched and we would be there what seemed like all night. I don't know what he pays the officials and workers (or if he even does), but I doubt its much. For that reason I understand the officials and workers wanting to go home. However, Lanny runs the track, therefore he should care about if people are cheating or not and actually make the tech guy tech our cars. In my opinion, a couple random nights through the year (which we aren't told in advance so people can put their legal stuff in) the top 5 should be torn down and check heads, fuel, and other various items.

The quicker he can get everyone out of there the quicker he and the family can start counting all that money each week, the theory get everybody there get there money and run the show then get'em out of the facility as quick as possible and it will be all good in Lanny's world.

Coolness, now we can really get to work on Kenneth Walker's heads and make him a little faster!

Wesmar,

What would be a ballpark figure for welding up the chambers and re-working/shaping them on an existing set of spec heads.

To be honest with you that would be something that we would send to Brodix and have them do it.

We do some minor welding/repair work here, but that would be more than we could do.

Just curious, how much HP would you gain by this new super sprint rule? What would be the advantage of making such a rule?

Now maybe his Dallas guys can come up and run and not worry about being caught.(not that he would let you tear any of them down)
