Don,good to see you posting again ..thought you might have been ill. I know this is off subject but one day I wish you would outline [in detail] what the ideal sprint car motor would be.Keep in mind a currant sprint car weighs approximately 1275 lbs. and owners spend a lot of money to get that weight so throwing a big horsepower big block boat anchor won't work..again your logic-your thoughts do intrigue me ..truely show us a lowcost alternative, thank you

Around a 330 cid small block equipped with 11,000+
RPM pneumatic valve springs (P-Springy) would
be my first choice.
You still might see something unusual at VV this
year.
And by the way, something wonderful is going to
happen soon that will help the 410 car counts in SoCal.

Aaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Been down this road a THOUSAND times!! Great racing, lowest possible cost = go back to 1970 tires on the rear!!! NO wings of course. Period. END of problem. Wanna spend 45 large on a killer 410? No problem!! It'll live FOREVER cause you ain't putting more than half the power to the ground anyway. Or you can throw together a 450 hp motor with boneyard parts for a couple grand and still be able to run up front if you get the chassis in the ballpark and your "driver" can DRIVE the damned thing!!!

What's up with the "wonderful news"? We could all use a pick-me-up during the 6 week hiatus. Money? Big sponsership deals? USAC sacked? Please give details, our imaginations are running amok.

I was riding my motorcycle up in Alaska last summer and went to Willows Speedway and watch the 300 sprints race. They run a 283 c.i. motor with carb and pump gas. They also run full wings. Didn't take much to push them off and they put on a good show.
