The motor started to loose power mid throttle and i couldnt figure out what was going on it would clear out and run after a bid but die again..
I pulled the mag had checked and it was good but now i can get it timed and to idle lower then two grand..
i did find junk in the metering block and cleaned all the fuel stuff up.. I think this was the inteal problem.
But i dont know cause i cant seem to get it timed right.. put the motor at top dead put mag at top dead number one cylander and when wqe try lower the timing it dies..when i give it gas and rev it it back fires and doesnt sound to hot..
any ideas

The engine needs to be timed in at 36* before TDC on # 1 cylender.

Just some thoughts 1 check your barrel valve to make sure it hasnt moved ,2 also check to see if there are any air leaks in the motor, 3 Fuel filter in backwards ,4 timing is NOT ! 180 OUT, 5 possibly a fuel pump going away> As I said just some thoughts let us know what you find G

Well after making sure we had everything right we fired it and seem to run alot better then we noticed it wasnt closing all the way and when we did it by hand we got it to idle down and stay running. Im guess i need some kind of spring or lift my toe.
Also was thinking it sounding the the cam is overlaping..
But we did notice that it seems to blow back out the filters and when reving it back fires some.
Very good chance pump needs a tune up. The temp does rise rather quick well sitting there. Climbes to 220 but the cap relieves it.. cap is a 18-24.
Any ideas on why its doing the blow back

You said you set the engine on top dead on number one. Make sure you are on the compression stroke (put your finger in the spark plug hole) you will feal pressure when the piston starts up the bore on the compression stroke. Once on the compression stroke look at your timing degree wheel and set engine at 34 deg. (+/-) BTDC. Then make sure the mag rotor lines up with the wire going to number one cylinder.
