Its a shame that there was some good racing this weekend at Enid , but what about the rules they had posted on the front page of there web site, its clearly stated no side boards on the modifieds and there were at least 3 cars(12'02 & 51) that had them on the roof and from the radiator to almost the front bumper, then in the sport mod all weekend the announcer kept saying they were going to pull the oil pan and heads after the races and even saturday night , the promotor was in the announcers booth and said he told all the drivers they were going to do that , then sunday night when all said and done , NEVER HAPPENED alot of people i heard talking after the races said it was because the tech man was a parnter in the car that won, heard alot of the racers say the wouldnt be back because of all of this , must be something to it , because the car count was way down from where it was at there last BIG Race, i hate to see this as its nice to see some big money races close to home , and all you okla city guys thought SSF promotor sucked....just my 2 cents,

The limiteds did go thru tech friday night I was there. They pulled all four trailing arms off, checked vacuum, pulled #1 spark plug, pulled valve cover off, and checked carburetors. Three of the top ten I think didn't pass. Drivers told the promoter sunday they didn't want to tear down they knew the top ten were legal it was hot they were ready to go home.

First of all I know Robert Elliot and he owns his car that he was driving and won the sport mod show. He bought it from a official but he is not the head tech man. His motor is legal and he is a hell of a driver. Second of all it was well over 110 F under the grandstands in the tech area, and somebody would have ended up passed out. All of the cars that finished in the top 5 were teched at least one night previous and the motors were painted to make sure they weren't taken apart and "fixed". Enid runs a very good tech program. They know my motor better than I do. I also ran 5th to Elliot and I'm not throwing a damn fit about it. I have seen his motor scattered all over the place at Elk City when he won their big show and it is Legal!!

well i beg to differ but the tech man at enid does own the car robert drives, read the monday enid paper, www.enidnews.com and go to the sports page, heres what it say: Robert Elliott posted an emotional win in the limited modified A feature, aboard his No. 19 Rocket Race Cars/Beaver Express-sponsored Hughes chassis.

“This is the 19th year that Robert and I have raced,” said car owner Johnie Rauschenberg. “Robert’s son, Darren, died from cancer several years ago and he would have been 19 this year, so we decided to run the No. 19. We want to dedicate this win to his memory.”

Rules, what rules? They didn't know what they even meant by side boards. I ask 3 peolpe they all had different answers. The pay back was terriable 6th place got paid the same as 24th. Start 24 cars and finish with 6 WOW. Did you know that the security gaurd is also a track spotter on the back straight. Making calls he don't even have a clue of what is going on.

You know as I saw it there were alot of good cars and drivers at Enid and a few not so good cars there.... Some made the A-main on Sunday some didn't... Several really good cars didn't make it because they broke or was tore up..... But the real fact remains... Robert drove the wheels off that car, he was smooth and fast and drove a real clean race...

Robert has raced for many years and a driver could learn alot from him... he's easy to talk to and willing to help or give tips to anyone who asks.... And before I get my head bit off ... we had a car there to and were unlucky enough to get tore up.... We repair, and go on and do it again... thats racing.

Somebody would have ended up in the ER due to heat under those grand stands especially around the 200 degree motors. Not a smart idea and that was one of the reasons the officials let the drivers decide. Robert offered to take everything apart on his motor regardless of what the other drivers did so that every driver could take a look and nobody said lets do it.

And Enid wonders why there car count is so terrible. The last two 10 to win shows Little Weder has ran over numerious cars, and nothing was done about it. I don't understand that because most the fans don't even like him. Weder is fast when he pulls his head out. But tell me why he can run over Greg Burt under a caution and the officials acted like nothing happened. We went to Wichita Tuesday night to watch the NCRA vs. USMTS Challenge, and it was amazing cause they ran 35 laps with only 2 cautions and almost every car finished the A main. And the cars that didnt finish pulled off the track under there own power and werent involved in any wrecks. Lonnie needs to take a pen and some paper to wichita some night and watch how C. Ray runs a show and works a race track. Enid has gone down hill and whats said is it used to be one of oklahomas best tracks, now its a joke. They dont inforce any of their rules. Lonnie was overheard friday night after the A main telling the 5r car he was DQ'd cause he was 35 pounds over weight, and that if he would of only been 10 or 15 pounds over weight he would have looked over it. How is that fair to the other drivers. You cant cut corners for drivers no matter how much money they have or where ther're from or how big their rep. is.

This best thing you said is how well Wichita is run. The past 3 years I have been probably 20 to 30 different tracks and that place is very well run with some pretty good Drivers too. Your other comments I reserve the right to silence. The side boards didnt help anybody win that ran them it's just something else to build. The fastest car up there was Jeff Taylor in the 5X , that car was faster than anybody but just seem to go away after about 45 min. IN MY OPINION the three day show are over, I know a alot of GREAT drivers that would of went if it was just a 2 day deal and not on Sun. afternoon in Aug. Popularity of some Drivers does come with what appears to be favortism and very well might be but what can any other team do about it, Not Go Racin? As far as whats goin on in Enid, ya I have to say "racins been better" but it still is a pretty cool track to run.

Go to bed old man so you can get to work on that modified and maybe make some NCRA modified events before season is over.

I have silenced myself long enough on this topic and I want to weigh in on this deal.

42 cars for a $10,000 to win show is PATHETIC to say the least and it is not one but two parties that are at fault here. First off, you don't need three nights of racing until you can average over 100 cars for your races. Talking with another late model series owner that we were racing with over the weekend, she brought up a real interesting solution and makes 100% sense.

The only thing $10,000 to win does is like a person spinning their tires and burning rubber, it is the "look at me" syndrome. That is my take on it. As this person suggests, make it two nights worth of racing (a Friday night and Saturday night) with both nights paying $5000 to win and $500 to start. Instead of your $250 entry fee for both nights, charge the $125 each night. This way drivers will be racing for something on both nights and make a pretty good deal of money also. Drivers are already there for Friday night and unless you break, your going to be there the second night also. Everything is split in half of what you would usually compete for on a three day $10,000 to win deal and everybody wins. This is coming from a late model series owner who I talked too while we were there in the press box at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool, Nebraska Friday night. She made alot of sense.

And trust me before this gets taken out of context, and it will, this is NOTHING against Lonnie or anybody else at Enid Speedway Park as they are great people and I feel honest and fair. That is my opinion too. I wish them nothing but success.

Those are my thoughts on Enid and anybody else wanting to run a big $10,000 to win show as such.

Come on Jack, hudsonparts If you dont like it get your self a car and just try and run with him. Bet you cant. Nobody likes a WINNER. It is funny the other top five cars are the ones that decided not to tear there cars down because of the heat, and you make a fuss about it. If I made the barn I would of not tore my car apart because of the heat and that same car was tore down alot more in Elk City then it was going to be here, and it Was Legal. Get Over It! I overheard Jonnie in the barn Saturday night giving drivers some ideas on how to get there cars faster and he was telling them the truth. Alot of people dont like Jonnie because he has won alot of races and I have to say at one time I didnt, but after getting to know him I consider him one of my best friends, so please give them a break.

Is this Jack and Van starting all this BULL! Its allready hard to get the cars at any track because of the gas prices and you guys run your mouths about something you had nothing to do with. Like I said get a race car and then if you made it in the top five, lets see how you feel about well over 100 degress in the barn to rip your motor apart. Yes we know who you are!
