Bring on Brainerd for ASCS Northern Plains Region Kouba Memorial Race...

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 30, 2008) – Following on the heels of a pair of events with the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series over the past week, action for the ASCS Northern Plains Region resumes with this Saturday night's card at North Central Speedway in Brainerd, MN.

Saturday's stop at Brainerd serves as a tune-up for the ASCS Northern Plains season-ending Mighty Axe Nationals at North Central Speedway over Labor Day weekend.

With the opening three events of the season in the books, the points battle has already boiled into a two-man race between reigning series champion Lee Grosz of Harwood, ND, and Eric Lutz of Sioux Falls, SD.

Now 20 years old, Grosz ranked fourth in 2006 ASCS Northern Plains points before capturing the title last year. His first series win came in Mighty Axe Nationals action at North Central Speedway last September.

Lutz is vying for his first series title after a runner-up ASCS Northern Plains ranking in 2006 and then a third-place finish in points last year.

Saturday's racing action goes green at 6:45 p.m.

North Central Speedway is located six miles south of Brainerd, MN, on SR 371, then 0.5 miles north on BR 371. For more information, contact the track at 218-828-1545 or 218-330-9097.

The ASCS Northern Plains Region is set for 11 nights of racing action at eight different tracks throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa in 2008.

The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
