Was doing a little thinking over lunch and I could come up with 42 different tracks that I have watched a race in between 12 different states. Not bad but I'm curious if anyone else keeps a list and if so where are you at vs where you hope to get to?

Im thinking it would be nice to hit 60 different tracks but at this point to get a new track under my belt I have to travel a bit or resort to more IMCA shows to pump up them numbers. Smile Total number of races attended is anyone's guess. Year before kids I hit up 70 races in a year but I can promise the average is more like 30 per year counting my younger years.

I started keeping track a while back, assuming I remember every track that I went to as a kid, I have been to 114 tracks in 26 states and 3 countries. I want to get to 150 before all is said and done.

Absolutely impressive! Still just barely in my 20s but I don't think I'll ever come close to topping that! Too much of a "on the porch" type of fan where I attend 95% of my races between 4-5 tracks.

Fun fact: Of the 12 states I have seen races in, PA is not one of them. Needs to happen but traveling that far East While holding a job and farming at the same time just doesn't always work. Telling the wife my vacation time will be used for PA Speedweek does not get approved Smile

I highly recommend taking a race vacation to Ohio, PA or Indiana speedweeks. You'll get an even greater appreciation of the dedication the teams have going track to track and trying to adapt to totally differen tracks. Plus its kind of like being part of a caravan of sorts. And youll get your track numbers up in a hurry.

Im sure there are members of this board who have been to way more tracks than me. Some of the old timers used to follow the Outlaws around. I wonder how many Johnny Gibson has been to.

Bridgeport made 383 (counting 3 different versions of that track) tracks in 43 states (missing Maine, Vermont, New Hampsire, Rhode Island, Utah, Alaska, and Hawaii) in 4 countries (US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand).  I've already added 8 in 2021, and I THINK I should be able to get to 10.  VERY rare for me to add that many "new" tracks in a year anymore.  (My "new" tracks in 2021: Screven GA, Southern FL, Showtime FL, Magnolia MS, Revolution LA, I-35 MO, I-70 MO, Bridgeport "4/10" NJ.  HOPING to add Benton County IA on July 4 and Circle City at some point yet this year.)

I have been lucky enough (not all dirt and not all sprint car). To hit in the low 300 of tracks. I have a notebook somewhere (unfortunately many are no longer around). I will have to dig it up. In the last 10 years I have added less tracks than what I did from 4 months old (first race April of 87 in Knoxville to 18 years old). We never went on a family vacation that didn't involve going to races, or like some years vacation was following Thunder through the plains or hitting as much of the month of money as we could and going to usac races and weekly races at places on off days. You really appreciate the nice facilities when you go to some places out there. Many of those places i don't think are around anymore.

I kinda feel like the junior member of this discussion. I count 13 tracks in 6 states, starting in 1973. Maybe I can make up for it with volume? I'd guess I've been to somewhere between 700 and 900 dirt track races. I'd be surprised if more than about 40 or 50 of those didn't have sprint cars as the top class. I'm a sprint car zombie.

A mere 37 tracks in 17 states for me, mostly since 2010. Went to 3 tracks in 2 states in the 1960s & 70s, then gave it up for 40 years

I've met a few guys who say 200, I can buy that, but one guy claimed 600.....hmmm?

If Johnny Gibson has "only" been to 383, 600 sounds iffy.... wink

Holy frijoles! I've seen sprint car races in a state that Johnny Gibson hasn't....

Canaan, New Hampshire, SCONE (Sprint Cars of New England) Track is closed now, but they still race in Vermont (Bear Ridge?)

Just as long a drive for me as Pa., racing nowhere near as good, obviously. I had a gearhead buddy in NH & i took him. He's deceased now...

I've never heard of vacation time for farmers, especially when sprint cars are running in the Northern Hemisphere

Florida or Australia, maybe???

Wait a minute.... Chili Bowl!

I don't know much about farming, or how busy you are in January, but I strongly suggest the Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Ok. You'll see more passing in 6 days there than a whole summer in Pa. (where I see most of my racing)

I RARELY go to anything that isn't sprint car or midget, and I've even passed up "new" tracks running sprint cars when there were multiple other classes on the program.

600 isn't "iffy" at all--there are at least 12 people who have been to over 1000, and a couple closer to 2000.

My stats aren't updated on this list--I'm not even sure all of my tracks "count" according to their rules.  I keep my list for myself, but I DO only include tracks if I've seen actual racing and not just visited to "take a look".

I think I recall you saying you enjoy supermodifieds, I'm surprised you never made it to Star speedway in NH.

If we are counting short tracks only then the count is 24, most of which are on the West Coast. If I add larger paved tracks for Indy Cars and Stock Cars then it goes up to 29 in 9 different states. I'll be adding a new dirt track later this year when I catch the WoO at Cedar Lake. There are several West Coast tracks that I can't believe I have never attended like Petaluma, Placerville and Silver Dollar. I'm sure that there are tracks that my parents took me to when I was really small but that I can't remember. I have a number of tracks on my bucket list, so hopefully I can add those in the next few years.

Edit: replied to the wrong post of yours but Chili Bowl and Volusia Florida both make my list as tracks I have been to. Winter is definitely more convenient as far as travel. Would like to try East Bay possibly before it is no longer. Great races at that track.

If I did any one of those it may have to be an abreviated week as I really don't think the wife will go for a week straight or let me leave her with the kids for that long either!!! I'm still not even 30 years old so I suppose I got a little time to make it happen.

Iowa State Fairground, Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, Osceola Speedway (straight East of East lake in Osceola, IA and you can still see it up on the hill from the highway), and Shimek Go Kart track (not sure if it counts but I counted it, East of Farmington, IA pretty much in the middle of a state forest) are the ones on my list that no longer exist.
