Good news for Knoxville. Will likely mean they open on June 6 and the June 12-13 WoO event will have fans.

Do you think Knoxville will consider selling assigned seats vs. general admission for the WoO event?  (and open up the backstretch?)

At minimum, they would need to do all sales online in order to control # in attendance.  They could assign all seats or do general admission & police it all night to get folks to spread out.

I would assume they would open the backstretch and enforce an every other row type deal like at Pevely. Other than the Nationals, no event gets even close to 1/2 full counting the backstretch, so they could still do some big things even if 50% capacity is how it stays for 2020.

50% of full capacity is more people than a weekly crowd and should be enough to handle anyone who wants to attend the Outlaws and still be less than half full.  The only time they'll have to restrict is for the Nationals but nobody really knows where we will be by August.  Predictions are all over the board but I'm glad they have what they need for their weekly shows.  I don't think our favorite Sprint Car driver here in Forest Lake has a regular 410 ride but I'm still happy that the weekly shows look to be starting soon.

Every other row is just silly.   It needs to be every other seat is open.   Having a person immediatley to my left and imediately to my right is no way to get distancing.   I realize that having every other seat open is much harder to implement and police.   In a perfect world, they would off set the seats as well.   i.e. Odd rows seat in Odd seats.   Even rows seat in even seats.   It is all doable.  It just depends on how hard you want to work for it.

Technically....It should be four seats between you and your neighbor and probably 2 row spacing to meet the 6' social distancing guidelines. That being said, they should have no problem abiding by the guidelines and still get everyone in....Until the Nats.

Weekly shows at Knoxville are social distancing 101. Seriously just use your head, not that hard not to sit right next to another group, really this shit has gotten so stupid but whatever you get to go racing again and that's the main thing.

The announcement comes to late to save the WoO date on 5/19 in Dubuque.     SLS would have been thrilled with 50% of that place full.

Hopefully a few weeks of this and everyone in charge will realize how f'ing stupid these predictions and the resulting actions have been.   (although I suspect that they will find some statistics to "prove" they were right)

Speedbump----I hope you are correct and we all realize how stupid they are.  However, I'm less optimistic.  I believe this fall/winter are going to be the real outbreak for the majority of the country.  New York City has already had their main outbreak as have some other heavily populated areas.  However, it is my belief the areas that have seen little spread are in for an unwelcomed surprise this fall.  My county has not even seen 200 cases out of 40,000 people.  At some point, 1/2 the population is going to have to get it.

Hope I'm wrong.  Either way, I'm going to try to enjoy the "break" and go see some racing.

Well, I have 100k excuses to believe the "hype". Show me a downward trend and I may go to a race. The Outlaws are 50 minutes from my house this weekend, but I'm not going.

Can tickets be purchased ahead of time for a weekly Knoxville show? Just want to make sure I make the 50% in case this goes crazy and everybody goes.

But over 300 million reason to go!

I've been handling the mask thing this way:  If I walk into an establishment, and no one has a mask on, I leave my mask in my pocket.  If I see some folks---especially elderly people---with masks on, I put my mask on out of respect.  So, when it comes to the races, I'll have mine in my pocket just in case I run into someone who is wearing one.  I'm not going to judge anyone if they are being extra cautious---especially those with higher vulnerability to this virus.

So, as far as the races, I would likely leave mine off in the stands unless I got in close quarters with someone else wearing one.  That said, if Knoxville put out a press release "all fans must wear masks" I'd put one on.  I believe being asked to wear a mask is a small price to pay for everyone else's piece of mind.

I think it's interesting you use the number of people yet to catch this as your reason to go.  It would make more sense if 300 million people had already caught it.  Then we should feel safer.  The fact that you reference the population that has yet to be exposed in your "reason to go" is puzzling.

Anyway, I am going to go to Knoxville and take extra precautions since (I believe) I am still one of the 300 million who hasn't caught this----------yet.

I seriously doubt there will be another real outbreak in the fall.   Personally I think if race fans get stupid and don't take the necessary precautions as these tracks open, we won't have to wait until fall to see a major spike.    As far as what does or doesn't happen now or in the future, I don't really trust anyone's predictions or projections.

Actually I use that number for perspective.

I happen to believe that a whole lot more people had this thing than we think and I think that the death rate is a lot lower than the current estimates. That doesn't mean we shouldn't take precautions or wear masks at the grocery store. I think we should as a show of respect if nothing else given how deadly this thing is for people over 65.

I kind of handle it the same was Egras does.   I won't wear the mask outdoors, but will when I go into grocery stores.   On the other hand, if I'm the only one in a store wearing the mask it's not doing me any good.  That's when I stay away from people and get the hell outta there as soon as I can manage it.   Of course that's the same thing I did in stores before anyway.
