Use to race my Schwinn Stingray & Schwinn Scrambler alot. Got upside down a few times!

Did a little Street Drag Racing back in the start of the 80's back when we all drove Cool cars with V8's you could actually change plugs, wires, points, Cams, Carburators, Intakes ect.. without needing 25 specialty tools and dis-assmbling half of the car..

Other than that... Just a die hard spectator... :-)

Superstock, then UMSS traditional sprint, then the traditional and 360 winged sprint, now traditional, UMSS winged, and 410 non wing. Not any good at any of them but they are a hell of a lot of fun.

Started in quarter midgets at 4 years old, graduated to micros at 12 (the old fashioned 250cc two strokers), dwarf car for a couple years, and then 14 years in sprint cars - both 410 & 360.  Haven't been behind the wheel since 2008 and miss it like crazy every single day.  Just can't fathom spending the kind of money it takes to be competitive nowadays.

I raced fendered stock cars in several different classes but they were essentially just stock entry level with a few extra modifications as we went up the ladder in class name.

Also ran a few demo derbies that had novelty jeat races to determine the final squared pit heat.

Those novelty races included a u turn where you did 4 laps turning left then a u turn and 4 laps turning right, a chain races where 2 cars were chained together at the back drivers side door post so 1 guy went back ward and of course the bump to pass heat.

Our family owned an engine rebuilding shop and there were usually 4 cars in our fleet and about 4 friends would use our shop and property to work on theirs so sometimes there were 8 cars lining the road like a used car lot. I remember 1 double weekend we had about 5 cars ripped apart Sat night prepping for Sunday . 1 guy laid under his car working till about 5 AM so he just stayed there to sleep on the cardboard until 9.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Built and raced a Late Model Dirt Car in the late 60's in the Steubinville, Zandsville, Ohio area.

Built and raced a 100" 6 cyl modified in the Tulsa area, early to mid 70's

Built and raced a street stock at Tulsa Speedway, late 70's

Built and raced a modified midget at Speedway 90, Beaumont, Tx, early 80's

Raced a winged super modified for a short time at the short lived dirt track at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Az, 1984.  Where I met Jack Miller, the promotor/announcer.

Midwest Modified for seven years and UMSS 360 Sprint Car for five years. Miss it! Now I live in Charlotte, NC waiting for this virus to go away so we can check out the racing around here.

Back in the 70s I helped a friend with his hobby stock.   Last race of the year he was out of town and he gave the car to myself and a another guy.   When I told my family about my intentions my mom freaked out while my dad helped tune it up and made sure it was somewhat safe.

In hot laps I discovered that the single seat lap belt was made to fit the 250 pound owner and not a 150 pound kid.  I tossed it into the turn and the only thing that kept me from completely sliding off the bucket seat was my death grip on the steering wheel.

My friend drove it in another hot lap session and the heat.  I took over started 10th and passed a few cars and finished a respectable 5th in the feature (out of 5 remaining cars).

I think we got paid $35

No depends needed, nor drop outs, smooth sailing, all be it, no time to read a racing magazine...

A couple years ago I raced in a weekly go-cart league at an amusement park. I know, not real racing. I got to race against a bunch of guys that did race real cars from micos all the way up to winged sprints every weekend. Best I ever finished was 7th in a feature, but I did win a B main-no trophy. I learned that the guys that win races are determined, they have quick reflexes and incredible concentration. They were also all young enough to be my kids.

Started love of cars at around 14 and was involved in drag racing mostly street cars that were fast at 13.5 quarter miles but slow by todays standards ,10 second muscle cars.Had a go kart track where we had about 25/30 local racers with 2troke Macs,Raced snowmobiles until the 80s cross country and ovals, won some bigger races and drove for several owners.Got first mini sprint in late 70 and won the nationals twice Got a few rides in midjets but never won.Family took over and some other hobbies and did some moto cross . but wasnt that good. Son was born so got back in go karts starting with B&S ending with double engine yamahas.Son was pretty good so bought a couple  minis and raced all over and won until he was old enough to try a sprint car.He raced at Knoxville for about 10 years and drove for others after first year and was a contender most nights.Family put an end to his racing but I still had the fever so bought a micro and now have an outlaw mini mod but at 75 years old I am just a middle of the pack participant . Still pickup and tractor pull some which is easy,You dont realize that father time takes a little every year.My real love is 1/4 mile high banks with winged 410 sprints but Knoxville is fun just motors make more difference.

Started in go-karts at 12 and stopped at 18 when I went to college.  Raced against some people who ended up having some local and regional success in bigger cars when they got older, including Sarah Fisher.  Only got 1 win but it was on my 18th birthday.  Bought most of a sprint car and parts in my late 20s but never finished it.  Family took precedence.  Might finish it someday and take it to vintage nights.
